played 'why you do that' 12" DJing last nite & it sounded amazing. its a damn tragedy that these dudes all rose in teh post-vinyl era. i want gucci's 'my shadow' on wax

D-40, Thursday, 14 April 2011 19:49 (fifteen years ago)

tyler's putting his album out on vinyl, you should pre-order :)

J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 April 2011 19:50 (fifteen years ago)

ugh

D-40, Thursday, 14 April 2011 20:00 (fifteen years ago)

noz's bedroom rap feature in the wire is a nice way to let me know of rap acts never to check for

D-40, Thursday, 14 April 2011 20:01 (fifteen years ago)

yo you should check out that shady blaze i linked to in gun sounds -- the guy is from main attrakionz (who i've never heard) but there's no way that you wouldn't dig it -- maybe it's a little too unpolished for you tastes but it's basically contemplative doubletime trae raps with some r&b doubletime twista raps

J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 April 2011 20:03 (fifteen years ago)

ill check it out

you know who's a solid rapper? french montana

of course then he went & pulled an oj the juiceman on me & released that terrible mix cd w/ lex luger beats real & fake

D-40, Friday, 15 April 2011 17:24 (fifteen years ago)

I have now listened to both Coke Wave and the new album. I also like French Montana, hadn't heard anything of his before apart from that single with Curren$y from last year. Anyway i really like this stuff, but i always enjoy a rapper who's not afraid to indulge in some semi-amateurish crooning so it definitely ticks that box.

Number None, Friday, 15 April 2011 17:31 (fifteen years ago)

french montana is so goofy & sometimes comes in awkwardly but it's true he's surprisingly solid & really grows on u

nigga get wit her or get rolled over
on the grind can't get a day sober
breaks over, goon music takeover
cocaine in a coke wave makeover
i done seen real niggas foldover

flopson, Friday, 15 April 2011 17:39 (fifteen years ago)

feel like french handles his big awkward cadence well, always kind of towers over beats rather than riding them or adapting his flow to them

flopson, Friday, 15 April 2011 17:43 (fifteen years ago)

btw i love meeno

flopson, Friday, 15 April 2011 17:47 (fifteen years ago)

his performance on that is great -- it def has this feel of almost going off the rails, it's almost like he recorded the song in a car that was going 90 mph on a freeway

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:20 (fifteen years ago)

girls we be fuxtin til they pussies is swollen is gross & kind wish they had chosen a dif lyric since it's otherwise one of my favourite hooks on the album to sing, also the second hook/bridge after the french montana verse goon music baby, picture me rollin, homie take your dough fuck them hoes, take your tiiiime

what is creepy abt the dame grease verse?

flopson, Thursday, 21 April 2011 18:09 (fifteen years ago)

just the way he says 'touch her where she never tell' sounds like hes molesting someone

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 18:10 (fifteen years ago)

i mean, i know what he means, i think, its just an odd way to put it

"every ten years niggas like you pop up / you a blast from the past / this music feel good like wakin' up, scratchin ya ass / i'ma keep makin hits trynna fatten my stash / on the block roll the dice, gon have my own wedding / trynna fuck with the bitches that be throwin the rice..."

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Tuesday, 26 April 2011 07:20 (fifteen years ago)

lmao @ deej's pitchfork review just out of nowhere going "Max's lyrics don't have the opulent imagery of Gucci or the poetic minimalism of a rapper like the Jacka."

hong does your geirden gro (some dude), Sunday, 1 May 2011 01:55 (fifteen years ago)

yes that was totally "that's our deej!"

J0rdan S., Sunday, 1 May 2011 02:46 (fifteen years ago)

jacka & max b sound alike imo

flopson, Sunday, 1 May 2011 06:18 (fifteen years ago)

idg whats 'out of nowhere' about that

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Sunday, 1 May 2011 08:29 (fifteen years ago)

max b & jacka are like inverses of each other; one's a west coast rapper integrating east coast & the other is an east coast integrating west; they make total sense to compare.
