I survived "Friday" on Friday. I could hear a big commotion in the hall once it started up--I'm in a wing with mostly grade 6 classes, a couple of 4/5s, and two grade 8s. One of the grade 8 teachers told me a bunch of 8s were congregating and dancing, half of them sincerely, half ironically. I'm guessing there were even some on the fence--half-serious, half-ironic. In any event, it got much more attention than "Whole Lotta Love" on Wednesday (albeit the edited 3:10 version) or "Girl You Know It's True" on Thursday, neither of which anybody even noticed.

Next week, I may venture into completed uncharted territory...Bieber. (If I can find a song I like.)

clemenza, Saturday, 9 April 2011 16:00 (fifteen years ago)

I am glad you encourage hallway dancing...my 8th grade self thanks you!

I haven't heard the "Message From Pato" thing yet, but I've been told he addresses that they didn't have the money to put a school bus in the video.

billstevejim, Saturday, 9 April 2011 19:46 (fifteen years ago)

The song is about the bus.

I got bored after the first post. I see I should have persevered a bit. I'm gonna blame my kids because 1) they are clearly 4 weeks behind the times and 2) they're not here.

Those comments on that story.

I'm more surprised people still care that much.

Mark G, Friday, 15 April 2011 08:57 (fifteen years ago)

Chord Overstreet

He's an actor on the show, yes.

jaymc, Friday, 15 April 2011 13:52 (fifteen years ago)

Chord Overstreet sounds like a nefarious yuppie property developer trying to get the school bus taken away in the 80s movie 'Rebecca's Crazy Friday' co starring John Cusack

Exactly. I was just c&ping it because I honestly couldn't tell if that was his real name or his character's name. For his sake, I hoped the latter, but I looked it up and saw the truth. Poor kid.

10 gives you 1 he changed it to that to be more 'noticeable'

Mark G, Friday, 15 April 2011 14:30 (fifteen years ago)

According to my very brief research this morning, his dad is the country singer Paul Overstreet and Chord and Nash are his two sons' real names.
