If you acquired it where I did, be careful of the remix. There's a version floating around with two identical tracks. The Quietus had a proper version of the remix posted a month or two ago, and it's really quite different (slower tempo, more noise).

there was a cock up by the people who distributed the digital version and they put the original version on twice instead of the remix. the remix IS very different.

Yes, I will put my hand up as to liking them. Saw them live by accident, too, supporting Chris Cunningham. (Which was actually an awful show, it was way overcrowded and I had a panic attack and had to leave two songs into CC's set, but FF were very good, very very early New Order in the best possible way.)

okay, i've never heard of these guys, but that optimo remix is badass. had to turn off the lights for that, instant favorite. live vid in the OP is maybe even better. moar.

can't really hear anything in the live vid but the loop, vocals and ride cymbal - with interruptions by guitar (if that really is the guitar). amazing anyway. like the noisy electro shit more than the goth/postpunk moves.

the 'two different ways' 12" was really fantastic. remises soon from richard h kirk and perc, iirc.

Kinda think they're doing it the right way! Big release will just attract loads of nonsense. They're working with some great people and getting attention from all the places I'd imagine they'd want attention from. They keep putting out good things. They keep putting good things out that are so scattered it's really difficult to get enough of a chunk of their material to listen to them, when I'm in the mood to listen to them. Which would be a lot more often if there were, because they are great.

^^^ This is the most Quietus thing ever written and is so pompous its made me want to hate them. Maybe it shows FF up for the nostalgia they are, but most of what I've heard has been pretty good, if hardly earth shattering.

Jesus christ that review was just straight up bullshit - or at least the little I managed to wade through. Did they come to a point eventually? My eyeballs gave up in disgust. If you don't like those, give up, imo.

I think maybe a lot of the vaguely confused handwringing about this album has come about from like 18 months of weird awestruck hype from a certain kind of rock hack. Maybe you have to see them live to appreciate that kind of fervour but it always struck me as over the top. But as a result a lot of people were disappointed with this when it turned out to be "just" a collection of really good Carl Craig rips.

BTW anyone who was hoping this would turn out to be rockier/more EBM might get a lot out of the Gesaffelstein record, which I've been caning alongside this all week.

loved the live clips at the top of the thread. feral, chaotic, hypnotic and cool as hell. disappointed to hear them box it up in such a timid fashion.

I'm looking forward to seeing them live again soon when I guess they may let the noise rip a bit more, but I am not at all disappointed by the album. If you can't hear how it is hard (and clean) I just don't know. Turn it up. Hard and clean. Yum.

Wow, what. There are people who don't like this album. There are, in fact, Factory Floor fans who don't like this album? Huh.

That 'Drone Logic' remix upthread – well, someone else already said 'loud and clean' so I'll just restate that

I've often wanted something with the intensity of Ministry's The Land of Rape and Honey that wasn't quite so try hard as that (by try-hard I mean, look at the title of the album); something like that, but that just went forward without huffling about in leather jackets and biker beards.

And also I wanted something avoided another pole, that boringness you get in a lot of generic techno and house these days. I mean, I'm sure plenty of things that hit this point exist and it's just me not knowing about them by Factory Floor just hit me as being the perfect improvement of both of these things.

Came to this band because I like Peter Gordon, but totally blindsided to learn that Nikki Colk wound up there. Always thought KaitO were severely underrated, and in no small part due to her vocals, so glad to see she ended up not disappearing.

Yes. KaitO were real good.

The tracks don't seem to shine individually but the album as a whole is a great listen.

The new Gabe Gurnsey album Diablo is wonderful, from what I've heard so far. Definitely the houseier side of the Factory Floor sound. Lead single Push is a banger.

Agree! It feels like New Order/Cabs comfort food, pretty similar to what LoneLady has been doing. The previous one was good, this one is better though I can't decide if I like the vocals or not.
