a friend AIMs

"I just tried to download Tyler's Goblin.
And the mp3s are actually Neutral Milk Hotel "In The Aeroplane Over the Sea" renamed.
Even put the "Goblin" cover on the mp3s.
Fucking hilarious"

billy childish gambino (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 6 April 2011 18:27 (fifteen years ago)

slight even by tweet standards (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 7 April 2011 17:46 (fifteen years ago)

really loving frank ocean right now. i just think it's really emotionally affecting! especially all the borrowed beats. like, i didn't know the coldplay song was even a coldplay song, but frank does it better than chris martin now that i checked. even the eagles thing, which took a little getting used to.

goole, Thursday, 7 April 2011 18:11 (fifteen years ago)

i agree

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Friday, 8 April 2011 06:50 (fifteen years ago)

frank ocean is trending in the US right now

J0rdan S., Friday, 8 April 2011 07:34 (fifteen years ago)

frank ocean is damn good

Zero pumps, massive boner (thebingo), Friday, 8 April 2011 13:35 (fifteen years ago)

lol @ nore, "i know what's going on in the internet world"

billy childish gambino (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 8 April 2011 14:04 (fifteen years ago)

Really been caning the frank ocean lately. Also amuses that in amongst all the homophobia/misogyny discussion on this thread with regards to OF we have frank with his pro choice pro gay marriage sentiments on 'we all try'.

kuyty on a mission (pandemic), Friday, 8 April 2011 17:37 (fifteen years ago)

people actually like it? i have been putting off downloading it forever because you know coldplay but maybe i should finally give in

popular gay automobile (a hoy hoy), Friday, 8 April 2011 17:41 (fifteen years ago)

he does a great take on a craptacular original though.

Zero pumps, massive boner (thebingo), Friday, 8 April 2011 17:43 (fifteen years ago)

well I'm hardly an rnb expert or anything. Think The-Dream is probably the only other rnb I listen to a lot, oh and I liked the R Kelly 'Love Songs' thing. But yeah I really love the frank ocean and he has a pretty likeable persona, if that matters at all. 'songs for women' for example is great with his girlfriend battle rapping him, blasting drake in his car instead of frank himself etc

kuyty on a mission (pandemic), Friday, 8 April 2011 17:47 (fifteen years ago)

this is what's up:

so nice!

btw what's the dialogue sample in that song from? almost sounds like meg ryan?

Arguably the best rapper in Odd Future, Earl Sweatshirt remains a cloistered enigma.

why would anyone be passive about this? Who would argue that Earl's not the best rapper in Odd Future? It's like calling Eddie "arguably the best shredder in Van Halen"

markers, Friday, 8 April 2011 19:54 (fifteen years ago)

whiney you're right but otoh lots of ppl think tyler is the best rapper for some reason

J0rdan S., Friday, 8 April 2011 19:55 (fifteen years ago)

because they don't listen to odd future?

billy childish gambino (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 8 April 2011 19:56 (fifteen years ago)

yeah I've seen that tyler > earl a couple times *shrug*

sorry ozzy but your dope is in another castle (Edward III), Friday, 8 April 2011 19:56 (fifteen years ago)

earl > hodgy > mike g = tyler > domo

J0rdan S., Friday, 8 April 2011 19:56 (fifteen years ago)

I mean I guess there is a Biggie/Pac dynamic between tyler and earl. Tyler is more likely to say something "deep" like "a rose that grew from concrete" (lol) that will get him his own college course some day

billy childish gambino (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 8 April 2011 19:57 (fifteen years ago)

plus tyler's more prevalent in media and y'know some ppl just don't pay attention to a rapper's technique

sorry ozzy but your dope is in another castle (Edward III), Friday, 8 April 2011 19:58 (fifteen years ago)

Earl on the other hand don't give a fuck if you're tnangerp, gimme the baby rings and the #1 MOM pendant

billy childish gambino (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 8 April 2011 19:58 (fifteen years ago)

yeah except the thing is that when earl drops a deep line ("products of popped rubbers / and pops that did not love us" or his verse from "fuck this christmas) it hits harder cuz he's not mr. overshare

J0rdan S., Friday, 8 April 2011 19:59 (fifteen years ago)

like biggie!

lexpretend that we're dead (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 8 April 2011 20:00 (fifteen years ago)

THEYRE NOT LIKE WUTANG AT ALL

lexpretend that we're dead (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 8 April 2011 20:01 (fifteen years ago)

sure they are

sorry ozzy but your dope is in another castle (Edward III), Friday, 8 April 2011 20:02 (fifteen years ago)

they're a collective, white boys love em, eh ok that's all I got

sorry ozzy but your dope is in another castle (Edward III), Friday, 8 April 2011 20:02 (fifteen years ago)

I guess both share a vague love of alienating avant noise but I can't imagine an odd future track coming on and being all "ooh is this wu tang?"

unless it's this of course

most notable part of that story is that i think it's the first time i've seen frank ocean in a group photo w/ the whole gang

J0rdan S., Saturday, 9 April 2011 06:12 (fifteen years ago)

damn @ weiss revealing tyler's last name

http://stop-snitching.com/images/snicthsign.jpg

i had never read that anecdote before about them & syd's studio, that was cool
