AG: I don't know if Gnaw Their Tongues are releasing new material this year or not but Mories has a BM group called De Magia Veterum who have a new album coming out called The Divine Anthithesis and it is mad caustic and has overtones of Celeste, Abruptum and Omega Deathspell. It gave me a really bad headache the first time I listened to it but I really like it now.

Chap With Wings... Five Rounds Rapid (Doran), Tuesday, 29 March 2011 16:51 (fifteen years ago)

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 30 March 2011 18:16 (fifteen years ago)

If you like atmospheric BM then dig in!

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 30 March 2011 20:08 (fifteen years ago)

Listening to Raventale right now and it definitely has a doom feel despite being BM. Apparently the 1st album is basically Drudkh worship but i couldn't find that album. Im listening to the 2nd one just now and enjoying it. I think if you dig Drudkh or Austrasian Goat you will stand a good chance of liking them.

Roxy i bet you know of these guys. Come be all troo kvlt about it!

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 31 March 2011 00:24 (fifteen years ago)

Ash Borer

Ha, asking for trouble with a name like that.

GLOWER METAL (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Thursday, 31 March 2011 02:37 (fifteen years ago)

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 31 March 2011 15:04 (fifteen years ago)

Just ordered the other 2 book of sand cdrs, got a free instant download with one. It was a bit different to the Paradigms release, bit more straightforward atmospheric bm.

The new ep seems to be covers of folk songs. Wonder if the dude is a smolken disciple. He's from j justen country it seems, wonder if you deal with him john?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 1 April 2011 01:38 (fifteen years ago)

You can listen to it here http://bookofsand.bandcamp.com/album/the-bees-and-the-butterflies

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 1 April 2011 01:41 (fifteen years ago)

adult music person (Jordan), Friday, 1 April 2011 02:28 (fifteen years ago)

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 1 April 2011 02:34 (fifteen years ago)

hey ilxor, thanks for contributing, glad you stopped by (ilxor), Friday, 1 April 2011 02:40 (fifteen years ago)

The 1st Book Of Sand CDr I really liked, but, from what I've heard, not enjoying the less BMness of the others. Is the Ash Borer thing the tape? Waiting for the vinyl of that.

Wandering Boy Poet, Friday, 1 April 2011 12:53 (fifteen years ago)

you dont like the paradigms book of sand cd? I think that's the best one.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 1 April 2011 15:00 (fifteen years ago)

Anyone who hasn't heard Book Of Sand can do so for free here http://bookofsand.bandcamp.com/

Algerian Goalkeeper, Saturday, 2 April 2011 02:11 (fifteen years ago)

and more on the alcest re-release

Release date: 20.05.2011

"Le Secret" is not a new album by Alcest, but the debut EP from the incomparable project from France. It was originally released back in 2005 in an edition of just 1,000 copies which sold out before the release of "Souvenirs d'un Autre Monde" (2007), thus becoming a sought-after collector's item.

To Alcest themselves, however, it isn't this fact that constitutes the importance of "Le Secret." It's the music of the release which laid the groundwork for all future Alcest compositions with its epic tracks alternating between euphoric and nostalgic moods. Conceptionally, this EP sets out the framework that is essential for all other works of Alcest: music and lyrics are used here by Neige as a medium to channel and communicate the esoteric experiences of his early childhood.

"Le Secret" isn't just re-released in its original form, though. Instead, Neige has realised his dream of many years to re-record these tracks which are so meaningful to him personally and so fundamental to Alcest and to adjust them to his matured demands. Still, the original recordings from 2005 are an equal part of this re-release.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Saturday, 2 April 2011 02:11 (fifteen years ago)

Today I am checking out
Ved Buens Ende (liked)
Fleurety - 1st album (liking so far)
In The Woods keeping them for last but i expect to really like.

Roxy or anyone, got any opinions on these bands or anything similar I need to hear? old or new.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 3 April 2011 20:54 (fifteen years ago)

I really like the re-recordings of Le Secret...as charming as the original tracks are, the new versions are a lot richer sounding, more depth.

A. Begrand, Sunday, 3 April 2011 21:04 (fifteen years ago)

he re-recorded the whole album?

borntohula, Monday, 4 April 2011 01:20 (fifteen years ago)

Well, the album as in both 13 minute tracks. But the originals are also on the new reissue, which is a smart move.

A. Begrand, Monday, 4 April 2011 01:25 (fifteen years ago)

i already said that!

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 4 April 2011 08:17 (fifteen years ago)

Liturgy's "Generations" sounds a lot like Circle.

― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF)

^^ true. didn't enjoyed it that much tho, but still looking fwd for the album.

haven't listened to that much bm this year. so far, these are the ones i enjoyed most :

mamaleek - kurdaitcha
arts - vault of heaven (side project from one of the ancestors guys)

haven't listened to blut aus nord's latest. and have to listen negative plane more carefully.

rusty_allen, Tuesday, 5 April 2011 16:58 (fifteen years ago)

Liturgy album is great!

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 00:53 (fifteen years ago)

I don't think sounding like Circle is a bad thing at all, but it's not a particularly black metal thing. Of course the album is on Thrill Jockey which is more likely to release an album by Circle than it would by most metal acts.
