Has anyone seen this dude live? Wondering if he plays with a band or what.

champagne hippies trying to recapture their youth (Whitey on the Moon), Wednesday, 6 April 2011 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

I've seen footage of him performing live w/ band, but it seems like he usually plays w/ a dj.

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Wednesday, 6 April 2011 19:31 (fifteen years ago)

yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Wednesday, 20 April 2011 23:38 (fifteen years ago)

Yah that track is the standout for sure.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Wednesday, 20 April 2011 23:40 (fifteen years ago)

Feeling that little bass riff that Blood Sweat & Gears is built around.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyIE9RxJt6A

Fiend sounds great too.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Wednesday, 20 April 2011 23:42 (fifteen years ago)

^^^yeah this track is awesome too

the fuck you said?
i ain't hear it clear
too much money talkin in my ear

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Wednesday, 20 April 2011 23:43 (fifteen years ago)

I kind of forget how awesome Alchemist can be.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Wednesday, 20 April 2011 23:45 (fifteen years ago)

fiend has the best new orleans accent ever. he sounds like he hasn't left the french quarter in 70 years.

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Wednesday, 20 April 2011 23:47 (fifteen years ago)

spottie, you've heard "that'll work" with 36m & juvie, right? that's the dopest joint ever

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Wednesday, 20 April 2011 23:48 (fifteen years ago)

^^^this motherfucking shit

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Wednesday, 20 April 2011 23:49 (fifteen years ago)

Natch, check out my track nomms for the MICROPHONE FIEND thread :)

Such a tune that is.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Wednesday, 20 April 2011 23:51 (fifteen years ago)

I wish more full lengths played out like this EP; one producer, one emcee, a few guests and clocking in right around 30 minutes. This is great.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Wednesday, 20 April 2011 23:56 (fifteen years ago)

The tracks he leaked ahead of this are pretty much the weakest on the album.

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Wednesday, 20 April 2011 23:59 (fifteen years ago)

that one up thread is yurrr

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 20 April 2011 23:59 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, Spitta obviously seems to care about hitting an aesthetic more than covering his bases. I've noticed 5 of the 6 albums he's recorded (Jet Files) being the exception) have been recorded mostly with one producer. xps

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Thursday, 21 April 2011 00:01 (fifteen years ago)

& from a business perspective it's also an incredibly efficient way to pump out music

J0rdan S., Thursday, 21 April 2011 00:06 (fifteen years ago)

well fucking awesome! i didn't even know about this ep. thanks y'all!

O da Huge Manatee (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 21 April 2011 01:43 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, gonna go cop this too.

My bad Van Buren! (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 21 April 2011 03:29 (fifteen years ago)

I'm pretty sure that isn't possible.

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Thursday, 21 April 2011 03:41 (fifteen years ago)

just downloaded this!

O da Huge Manatee (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 21 April 2011 14:01 (fifteen years ago)

can we talk abt how alchemist kills the shit out of this

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:06 (fifteen years ago)

yeah it's great, that bassline mentioned upthread for blood sweat and gears w/fiend is really an amazing bit of looping, it feels a bit "off" like it shouldn't work but the way he does it works magically imo

O da Huge Manatee (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:08 (fifteen years ago)

was talking about this w /a friend earlier but am i wrong or does alchemist kinda sound better w/ C than Ski

geeks, dweebs, nerds & lames (D-40), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:21 (fifteen years ago)

it's a different vibe, no? With Ski he sounds more like he's constantly floating on a cloud of weed smoke. he sounds more awake here. i fucks with both though
love the hell out of what Fiend is doing at the moment, btw

rizzx, Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:30 (fifteen years ago)

This collabo is an excellent look for both dudes. Both Alch and Ski seem to work effortlessly with C$y tho, wouldn't be able to pick a 'better' fit atm.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:44 (fifteen years ago)

Loving this, but isn't "the Type" like the third time spitta has made a chorus out of Big Boi lyrics? Maybe even all from Aquemini?

champagne hippies trying to recapture their youth (Whitey on the Moon), Thursday, 21 April 2011 16:47 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, that feels kinda lazy at this point, but P and Spitta on a dope Alc beat overcomes that imo

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Thursday, 21 April 2011 17:26 (fifteen years ago)

'the type'...u crazy for this one alc

love how the beat fades out and then fades back in with prodigy's booming voice

the square root of minus one is i something uhh (tpp), Thursday, 21 April 2011 18:32 (fifteen years ago)

"love how the beat fades out and then fades back in with prodigy's booming voice"

Yah, excellent. Ive listened to The Type about 10 times in the last 24 hours, normally not my style.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Thursday, 21 April 2011 18:40 (fifteen years ago)

curren$y should work with sid roams too (has this happened?)

the square root of minus one is i something uhh (tpp), Thursday, 21 April 2011 18:40 (fifteen years ago)

His flow on "Smoke Break" is so crazy.

J0rdan S., Saturday, 27 August 2011 07:03 (fourteen years ago)

not on the tape btw even tho it has a drama drop

J0rdan S., Saturday, 27 August 2011 07:03 (fourteen years ago)

for real i could get down with a whole album of wayne going "and i'll still break her off like a chair leg" if he was rapping over some chill curren$y beats and letting his mind wander a bit ("yellow hearted... lemon meringue")
