I just want to give a shout-out to Buzzy Beetles (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 24 March 2011 02:55 (fifteen years ago)

i didnt finish it but his interview w/ jay was kind of lame, he was bringing up stuff everybody knows abt jay? like that he recorded w/ ski? then jay's giving good answers & hes kinda still wiffing at impressing him, idk

so fly zone (D-40), Thursday, 24 March 2011 02:58 (fifteen years ago)

^this guy gets it

deej i hold out hope that someday you will be bathed in a small but intense dose of cosmic rays and become a low tier supervillain
i really think you would be awesome at it
you could put fly up and put kittens in trees and speed up time so that peoples parking meters would expire early and you could steal everybody's newspapers at super speed and hide them on the roof
you could call yourself TEC-W or "The End of Childish Wonder" and rob liefeld would draw your comic and you would have all these pouches

rob liefeld likes to draw pouches.

i wasnt sure if u were being sarcastic but i like a bunch of his videos. the jay-z one just ended up being weird & kinda lame

so fly zone (D-40), Thursday, 24 March 2011 03:55 (fifteen years ago)

jay-z was talking sooooooooooo slllllllllllloooooowwwwwww

historyyy (prettylikealaindelon), Thursday, 24 March 2011 13:05 (fifteen years ago)

i love the jay z one; it's not a great interview but you get the sense of Jay in ivory tower, deigning to speak with this man because he is passionate and deeply educated and now we shall sit at the round table and commune like the important men we are and then nard just acts like nard
"who are you?"
"longwinded answer about the american dream"
"You are Jay-Z!"

B.O.B. starts lyrical battle with Tyler, the Creator:

http://www.inflexwetrust.com/2011/03/25/b-o-b-no-future-odd-future-diss/

The song is alright. I like how he didn't go hard on Tyler personally. Just basically saying he is more successful than him (which he is frankly).

I think this would be a good test to see if Tyler has some staying power in hip hop with this rap beef. I'm not doubting Tyler's talent but he can be an instigator for no reason. (I just saw his tweets making fun of Big Sean and I kind of cringed.) Even though Tyler is unique and "different" for these times his constant "joking" could alienate him as far as getting ahead in the music industry. I don't work in the industry of course, but one thing I do know that in the workplace it is not good to have enemies or burn bridges.

for these times his constant "joking" could alienate him as far as getting ahead in the music industry.

I would rather have Tyler burning bridges than every rapper pretending to like Asher Roth because he's a big white bag of money

ronan's revenge (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:12 (fifteen years ago)

also, Nirvana didn't have to suck up to Guns N Roses and they did just fine iirc

ronan's revenge (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:13 (fifteen years ago)

also, fuck Big Sean

ronan's revenge (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:13 (fifteen years ago)

that is otm i think whiney, although i like the degree to which money chasing has kept rappers from participating in pointless beefs that hurt the bottom line, its gotten to a pt where just cuz a rapper sells albums really no longer suggests some sort of genre dominance the way it did at least to a degree ten yrs ago. now it just means that youre appealing to a certain cd buying fan

so fly zone (D-40), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:15 (fifteen years ago)

otm, otm, and otm.

Call on me (Spinspin Sugah), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:16 (fifteen years ago)

watching rappers bend over to congratulate eminem last year for selling a bajillion copies was gross to me

so fly zone (D-40), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:17 (fifteen years ago)

bend over *backwards* lol

so fly zone (D-40), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:17 (fifteen years ago)

My only main concern with Tyler is that he could either go the way of Charles Hamilton or Eminem as far as being an instigator in hip hop. If Tyler response is great then it shows he can afford to say "Fuck You All."

Okay Pet Shop Boys Aren't That Bad. (lilsoulbrother), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:17 (fifteen years ago)

I mean, I think absolute worst case scenario, Tyler ends up a Steve Albini character, selling modest amounts of stuff on an indie scale to a cult audience. And gets to be a caustic conscience that doesn't care if he pisses off ppl who are more successful

ronan's revenge (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:19 (fifteen years ago)

Like Tyler coming after BoB is like Albini saying Sonic Youth or Creed sucks. And its like, yeah, maybe Albini blew a chance to ever tour with Sonic Youth or whatev, but I think he's doing just fine.

ronan's revenge (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:22 (fifteen years ago)

I could care less about Tyler's sales potential. I'm more interesting in what he does musically/lyrically because he has that potential. I'm just saying that Tyler can really cement his place in hip hop with something like this. Since hip hop is part lyrical competition and all.

Okay Pet Shop Boys Aren't That Bad. (lilsoulbrother), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:22 (fifteen years ago)

But at the same time when I say "burn bridges", I'm thinking more of the lines of like "pick your battles carefully."

Okay Pet Shop Boys Aren't That Bad. (lilsoulbrother), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:25 (fifteen years ago)

Like be an asshole with tact.

Okay Pet Shop Boys Aren't That Bad. (lilsoulbrother), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:26 (fifteen years ago)

fuck B.o.B. though

ronan's revenge (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:26 (fifteen years ago)

Tyler is saying the shit everyone's thinking but is too scared of the bottom line to say. Fuck B.o.B, fuck Big Sean, fuck Bruno Mars, fuck soft serve skinny jeans rap that's more about a Skyler Gray hook than actual rapping. He's picking his battles just fine imo

ronan's revenge (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:28 (fifteen years ago)

fuck steve harvey

Aerosol, Friday, 25 March 2011 17:29 (fifteen years ago)

Haha. Tyler seems to like the song:

http://rapradar.com/2011/03/25/new-music-b-o-b-%E2%80%9Cno-future%E2%80%9D-odd-future-diss/

Okay Pet Shop Boys Aren't That Bad. (lilsoulbrother), Friday, 25 March 2011 17:59 (fifteen years ago)

is steve harvey even a real person?

if tyler does this right, it could be as great as 'Strictly hardcore tracks, not a new jack swing'

Nult AGL (a hoy hoy), Friday, 25 March 2011 18:01 (fifteen years ago)

dude yeah steve harvey! he's an original king of comedy imo

steve harvey hosts the family feud now

kaygee, Friday, 25 March 2011 18:29 (fifteen years ago)

also, i don't know to what degree b.o.b. is more successful than tyler, since he probably has a big advance to recoup. i don't think any of his songs like blew up as much and as fast as yonkers.

pc-ness pump (lpz), Friday, 25 March 2011 18:40 (fifteen years ago)

the big metric of the popularity of "Yonkers" that people keep pointing to is 3 million YouTube views. "Airplanes" has 117 million and "Nothin' On You" has 68 million fyi.

NO BLOGS WERE INVOLVED. (some dude), Friday, 25 March 2011 18:51 (fifteen years ago)

youtube views are meaningless! lol

so fly zone (D-40), Friday, 25 March 2011 18:55 (fifteen years ago)

b.o.b. is still wack.

pc-ness pump (lpz), Friday, 25 March 2011 18:56 (fifteen years ago)

youtube views are meaningless! lol

posts very much out of character

are you saying there's a more accurate or meaningful metric by which it's remotely reasonable to say B.o.B isn't more commercially successful than Tyler?

NO BLOGS WERE INVOLVED. (some dude), Friday, 25 March 2011 19:50 (fifteen years ago)

i wasnt being serious

also, i don't know to what degree b.o.b. is more successful than tyler,

lol, alright alright, you showed me.

pc-ness pump (lpz), Friday, 25 March 2011 20:32 (fifteen years ago)

i just don't like b.o.b. and do like odd future and am pretty ignorant of how big b.o.b is.

pc-ness pump (lpz), Friday, 25 March 2011 20:33 (fifteen years ago)

yep

wavy g. wavegarten (J0rdan S.), Friday, 25 March 2011 20:35 (fifteen years ago)

b.o.b. has 3 billboard top 10 hits incl a #1 hit... it's really not even a contest

wavy g. wavegarten (J0rdan S.), Friday, 25 March 2011 20:36 (fifteen years ago)

HITS!

Call on me (Spinspin Sugah), Friday, 25 March 2011 20:44 (fifteen years ago)

1.2 million people "like" B.O.B. on facebook, that's pretty scientific

Bleeqwot the Chef (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 25 March 2011 20:47 (fifteen years ago)

i mean i kinda admitted i was wrong and guilty of stanning. thanks, though!

pc-ness pump (lpz), Friday, 25 March 2011 20:50 (fifteen years ago)

but maybe we don't do 'hits'.

Call on me (Spinspin Sugah), Friday, 25 March 2011 20:58 (fifteen years ago)

the craziest thing about B.O.B is how he's the only rapper in recent memory to cross over to uk urban pop - how did this happen? so weird imo
