LOL FUCK YEAH -- 2011 is the year of the amateur novelty hit! Me and My Puppy is a fucking jam!

this all sounds like a return to the 'song-poem' days of yore...

I like that she's donating the proceeds to Japan! Hope that's for real.
The song sounds better with this arrangement.

Wow - she's handling all this extremely well. This might sound ridic, or spell ~#TheEndOfMusic#~, but no meme has every received this much ongoing, propulsive celebrity... I really don't see her going away.

Those Tonight Show total pros help the song a lot. Ark Music coming off chumps.

Also notably, teen internet sensation Rebecca Black enters the Hot 100 at No. 72 with "Friday." The song bows on Digital Songs at No. 57 with 37,000 downloads sold.
Radio, however, is so far largely avoiding playing Black's widely-panned track. While morning drive programs are discussing (and, thus, adding to) the song's buzz, it garnered just 12 plays in its entirety in the March 16-22 tracking week among the more than 1,200 stations monitored by BDS for the Radio Songs ranking.

OK, my first, and final, unique opinion on this.
It's not brilliant, it's not total crap.
wow. that was worth saying... OK, here's a different perspective.
In a box...
It's fully, I've always known that everyone that writes sings, usually does a song about the days of the week at some point. (Just knowing that means I never did).Someone I know had a lot of money put aside for their musical career and education. Before I met the dude, I saw this video, it was a 'funky lil number' about each day of the week, Monday, no fun day, etc. Kind of like Jamiroquais crossed with Lloyd Cole singing, if you can imagine that. It was 'alright', but the second time I saw the vid I wa already 'bored' with the song. Which is not a great result....Anyway, many years after we 'worked together' sort of, I saw that he was in the lower reaches of the chart, musical style much the same, although some of the lines were blatantly lifted from StereoMCs... Not my cuppa, but fair play he got there a little. A few years later, he has a hit for The Tweenies, with the same song slightly rewritten. Oh dear. And then, a few years after that, some award ceremony, I hear Will Young thanking him specifically for writing his latest chart topper. So, the moral of this story is...Um. carry on regardless, I guess...

<3 Gang Fight.
I played this for my kids (Bieber/Kesha fans) and they were merely bored with it. It's not even good to press their buttons and get them screaming "TURN IT OFF! TURN IT OFF!" (like they do with "The Leanover" by Life Without Buildings). Disappointed, really.
