I'm digging that Deafheaven that someone posted on RM 2011.

Agree with all on the Fen. They are great at atmosphere.

Negative Plane hasn't hit me yet, but I've only listened a couple of times. Think you need to steep in their sound for awhile before it sinks in.

Anyone heard the Ash Eaters demo yet? Brown Jenkins guy doing something new. That might be cool.

I think this thread is a great idea, btw. Didn't seem like there was a whole lot of interest in BM on the RM thread.

drudkh? ok i'll give it a shot. doesnt need to be too BM since you know atmospheric post rock/metal/sludge is my thing too. Just as long as i can hear some BM stuff too. I really liked the last Drudkh but i know some heads moaned it was too post rock and not metal enough.

Drudkh is awesome. Start at the beginning of the catalog and work your way forwards. It's a rewarding trek.

Check out the Ides Of Gemini for some forward-thinking atmospheric BM. Almost has a british isles folk vibe. Clean, haunting female vocals. They have a release called The Disruption Writ you can listen to/buy on Bandcamp.

i know all of the drudkh (as roxy knows i avoided them for a long time but the band released a statement saying theyre not nazis or far right or fascists so i see no reason not to believe them)

i hate it when bands release statements about nazi accusations that don't say "we aren't racist" they just say "we aren't political and don't talk about politics in our lyrics" - yeah that's what's bad about nazis, thanks for proving that you actually are a dick

i haven't heard the last one in full yet, just bits & songs here and there (latecomer i know). and i will tend to review things week of release, or thereabouts. ask in rolling metal: lots of those guys have heard it! ...and can describe it better than i can ^___^

roxy you know anything about CIRCLE OF OUROBORUS all i know is that they are a finnish BM band. Smithy you love finnish BM, you know anything about them? Would like to know more or hear something before buying it as im skint atm , no spare cash to take risks as I sometimes do. It's about as much conjecture as if a dude made three albums and Reagan was a hero on each one. Either he's engaged in a career-long satirical take on Reagan-as-hero, or he thinks Reagan's a hero.

IOW Drudkh are pretty plainly Ukrainian nationalists and trying to work around that involves a lot of fooling yrself imo, and "nationalist" isn't really a benign term esp. in that region

what does IOW stand for? I keep reading it as Isle Of Wight

you've not actually ordered it right? I only ask cos I was gonna get the Raspberry Bulbs LP the other day from em but it added $4 on once I got to Paypal! So I sacked it off (Second Layer said they were getting it)

I did order it, didn't wanna wait then lose the pre-order price incase it jumped up by $10. It charged me £11.33. No added $4

huh, they've increased the price of the RBs now (I guess it's not a pre-order now?) but I just bought a CoO anyway - even if these come to the UK they'll prolly cost more than that - good lookin out

I like their music a lot (same with burzum) I guess if they are a bit "dodgy" or even outright vile like varg, i can listen to their music but not pay for it and buy stuff from those i want to. If the lyrics promote that stuff though then I'm out. Gotta draw a line somewhere, but i'm not gonna call someone who separates the music from the people making nazi's. I will however call actual neo nazis/racists/fascists cunts or dicks or wankers or whatever though!

That Raspbery Bulbs LP is awesome. Like a blackened Misfits circa Static Age. Would love to catch them live now that they're performing a ton in NYC. Was able to score a shirt off his label's site, Seedstock records. Pink BM shirts are the future
