This works surprisingly well if you lower the volume on Rebecca Black (which I know many people want to do anyway)...

every time people make fun of the seat thing i want to mount a half-hearted defense about how the lyrics were clearly supposed to refer to choosing among which of many seats in the bus, and which group of friends to sit with (which is admittedly still kind of dumb but less bizarre), and then the video totally changed the context of the line to a car with one empty seat, but it's not really worth it, is it.

sure looks like a slammin party in the video, what with everybody gathered around watching Rebecca sing and nobody with any drinks or food in hand

I genuinely like "Chocolate Rain"

It reminds me of things I wrote when I was in high school

(admittedly I only like it in 45 second chunks)

even though the lateral mic breathe thing was a beloved trademark, an artist is like a shark he has to keep moving or he'll die

he could have switched it up and leaned back, or ducked

I barely even remember why I found this funny, now it just seems like an awkward but damn catchy song. The only bit that still brings it reliably is when Pato shows up.

i thought she was weighing her options like "kickin' in the front seat seems fun, but hey, sittin' in the back seat has its upsides as well!"

Whether she can sing or not is irrelevant.. she's been immortalized as an autotune singer. Millions of people now associate her voice with how it specifically sounds in this song and for better or worse nothing will change that.
