i can't see how that works, unless the 'haters' are the people that are confused and think "Friday" is a normal hit song with the support of the music industry and are outraged that people sincerely like something so bad (xpost)

I would appear that from the comments on youtube and iTunes for the song and the "worst song ever written" in the press that, yes, much of the (young) audience is believing that this is being dished out to them by the music industry, one which decides what is good and who we shall make stars of. I mean I could be wrong but I have doubts any kind of fraction of those 13 whatever million views care about "outsider music".
