lol i just figured out that this guy's name is really pato and you all weren't on some extended riff on our own king boy for the the whole thread

goole, Thursday, 17 March 2011 20:46 (fifteen years ago)

I just came to the harrowing realization that Rebecca Black, at age 13, has not ever known a world where Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake aren't famous. Not that it means much, but "Oops! I Did it Again" to her is like "More Than a Feeling" to me. :/

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 17 March 2011 20:51 (fifteen years ago)

"Oops" is only 2 years older than she is.

taco al pastorius (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 17 March 2011 20:53 (fifteen years ago)

xpost -- Well, yeah. That's how generations work.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 17 March 2011 20:53 (fifteen years ago)

I got that mixed up, she is only 2 years older than "Oops" (the song, not Luna's ex-bf).

taco al pastorius (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 17 March 2011 20:54 (fifteen years ago)

oh snap

ancient, but very sexy (DJP), Thursday, 17 March 2011 20:55 (fifteen years ago)

xp - I know, but half of it is "she is so young" and the other half is "Britney and Justin have been around that long, but it doesn't seem like that long."

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 17 March 2011 20:55 (fifteen years ago)

This article from last year about Ark prodigy Kaya is amusing:

Some percentage of haterade must stem from how Rebecca unintentionally has become a household name without that long struggle for recognition on the merits of talent, despite not being represented by a "high-powered entertainment law firm" - yet.

Wit’ a car up on my side (Woo!)

^i heard "cop" for "car" (and thought the Woo! was supposed to be a siren)

An adult guest rapper (donna rouge), Thursday, 17 March 2011 20:58 (fifteen years ago)

i can't see how that works, unless the 'haters' are the people that are confused and think "Friday" is a normal hit song with the support of the music industry and are outraged that people sincerely like something so bad (xpost)

some dude, Thursday, 17 March 2011 20:59 (fifteen years ago)

granted, there do seem to be a fair number of people with that misconception

some dude, Thursday, 17 March 2011 20:59 (fifteen years ago)

this song still sucks and is unintentionally hilarious. i'm not rooting for Rebecca but not rooting against her either. in 3 days I'll have forgotten about this just like I did Pants on the Ground

Someone make a poll so we can decide who the second-best Ark Music artist is?

Or would CJ Fam walk away with it?

I kinda love "My Jeans" too.

reggaeton for the painfully alone (polyphonic), Thursday, 17 March 2011 21:08 (fifteen years ago)

I would appear that from the comments on youtube and iTunes for the song and the "worst song ever written" in the press that, yes, much of the (young) audience is believing that this is being dished out to them by the music industry, one which decides what is good and who we shall make stars of. I mean I could be wrong but I have doubts any kind of fraction of those 13 whatever million views care about "outsider music".

Spectrist, Thursday, 17 March 2011 21:11 (fifteen years ago)

someone should loop the "fun fun fun fun" refrain and layer the rest of the vocal track over it "O Superman"-style

corey, Thursday, 17 March 2011 21:11 (fifteen years ago)

i'm not rooting for Rebecca but not rooting against her either.

― sometimes magic sounds like tape (San Te), Thursday, March 17, 2011 9:01 PM (9 minutes ago)

Totally - it's just this thing to behold. This magical, miserable diversion.

Spectrist, Thursday, 17 March 2011 21:13 (fifteen years ago)

i think the either/or of totally outraged gullibles and nerds who use the term "outsider music" is a bit of a false dichotomy that ignores a much larger third group

some dude, Thursday, 17 March 2011 21:13 (fifteen years ago)

Stoners.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 17 March 2011 21:13 (fifteen years ago)

or just take the vocals of o superman and put em to fun fun fun fun
