WIFE: You aren't allowed to come to the party after now.

for some reason i just imagine a version where she gets to the FUN FUN FUN FUN part and the song just disintegrates into an endless loop of robotic FUN FUN FUN FUN

this song is kinda like http://www.livescience.com/13046-zombie-fungus-carpenter-ant-brain-altering.html for humans and we don't yet know what it wants us to do

Mordy, Thursday, 17 March 2011 16:18 (fifteen years ago)

keep having the "partying, partying YEAH" go through my head with different verbs substituted, viz. "marketing, marketing, YEAH", "formatting, formatting, CLICK", etc

cannot look at any verbs with a 3-syllable present participle now, driving me mad

also imagining this little girl with rich parents who want to make this beautiful princess future for her, imagining ('magining YEAH) that her mother is in fact Philippe's mother from Achewood and she takes her new video home and mom is very concerned about why these pop lyrics have no verbs in. What is this "we we we so excited" business? did we not pay enough for grammar tutors for you?

dimension hatris (a passing spacecadet), Thursday, 17 March 2011 16:19 (fifteen years ago)

seriously I wanted to do exactly that loop

my quest to drive myself insane via music proceeds nicely

ancient, but very sexy (DJP), Thursday, 17 March 2011 16:19 (fifteen years ago)

after a while that loop of "fun fun fun fun" starts to feel...incantatory. like some sort of shamanistic ritual chant.

Damn, now I wonder if I can sneak in that loop into my story...

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 17 March 2011 16:31 (fifteen years ago)

something that might be obvious but im gonna say anyway is that part of the massive appeal of something like this (for me) is that it hasn't been seized upon by the normal media yet. the only commentary is like, animated gifs and comment boxes. (and the song and video itself is outsider art, in a way - also outside the "normal" media). as soon as she does her today show appearance, as soon as the onion does a NIB on her, as soon as SNL gets someone to imitate her, it'll be over (in that sense)

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 17 March 2011 16:43 (fifteen years ago)

you guys in that 5x slowed one it's really, really worth hanging on 'til she gets to the chorus at about the four minute mark. Huge empty space suspension between "take" and "Friday" - and in the space, peeking through, it's God

that's probably less true of this than most other internet memes, tbh. i mean, as i pointed out upthread, the main thing that really kicked off this video getting tons of hits (after being online for almost a month beforehand) was that it was featured on the official blog of Tosh.0, a TV show dedicated to making fun of online memes.
