i feel a little bad about all of my hostility in this thread so as a lift you up by your bootstraps attempt i offer sort of a beginners guide to people who hate power metal

1. listen to power metal
2. suck less
3. try it again
4. take a long serious look in the mirror and hate your weakness
5. listen to power metal
6. succeed in sucking less
(optional: fail in sucking less, stab your failing eyes out with the shards of your nickleback cd collection)

I can't get enough of Sonata Arctica. They're catchy, they're good live, and they're not above having some fun. Same goes for Edguy.

I'd be okay calling King Diamond power metal...but then that drags me into well then what's Mercyful Fate...and in my dark little attic of a mind, they're both just kind of sitting there on their own, in their own category. Because, well...fuck, that's how it should be.
