it's by the lift boys aka yamatsuka eye from the boredoms. the best i can decipher the title from the artwork is 'liftvoyzzz'

stirmonster (stirmonster), Saturday, 8 April 2006 13:22 (twenty years ago)

I just got that 12"...but there's 2 songs on that side! What a fantastic record though.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Saturday, 8 April 2006 13:51 (twenty years ago)

my copies of walkabout (mix CD and 12") are due to turn up today. am drumming my fingers on the desk in anticipation.

haitch, Sunday, 13 May 2007 23:46 (nineteen years ago)

tricky, Monday, 14 May 2007 03:41 (nineteen years ago)

hoo boy what a mix! suicide sound even more menacing than usual coming out of all that buzzy noise from the godsy track.

haitch, Monday, 14 May 2007 06:06 (nineteen years ago)

psychedelic record storage built by jed.

I'm loving that Optimo mix too, particularly the "car sick" track, and the Boris one is fantastic too.

the space odyssey mix is an amazing hilarious delight.

s1ocki, Saturday, 10 May 2008 18:54 (eighteen years ago)

glad you enjoyed it. the night we did based around "2001 : a space odyssey" was completely hilarious. they don't show up too clearly in this photo but we had a load of HALs custom made. also note monolith hanging from the roof. :-)

omg wish i coulda been there.

i love the way the space odyssey mix just keeps going... the first time i listened to it i kept thinking "ah what a perfect way for this to end" (like the close encounters music, thus sprach zarathustra etc)... but when telstar came on it warmed my heart.

s1ocki, Saturday, 10 May 2008 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

Mix? Hrm?

Telephone thing, Saturday, 10 May 2008 20:15 (eighteen years ago)

can't believe I didn't hear optimo was playing australia until a few days out; not enough time to organise a trans-tasman trip.

anyone heard the optimo mix of the lottergirls cover of "the day the world turned dayglo"?

etc, Sunday, 11 May 2008 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

you can pretend you were at the last of their four gigs with three mp3s from this page (about four hours in total)

energy flash gordon, Monday, 12 May 2008 03:07 (eighteen years ago)

oh god, the hangover

haitch, Monday, 12 May 2008 03:39 (eighteen years ago)

hopefully we'll be coming back to australia in december. we were both completely and utterly smitten with the place - definitely our favourite dj trip of the last few years.

stirmonster, Monday, 12 May 2008 03:54 (eighteen years ago)

YAYYAYAYAYAY

energy flash gordon, Monday, 12 May 2008 04:34 (eighteen years ago)

December = playing in the bush outside of Melbourne again?

energy flash gordon, Monday, 12 May 2008 04:51 (eighteen years ago)

thanks for the link, & OH MY GOD YES! plz give enough warning for new zealanders to finally pick up & move to melbourne, etc.

etc, Monday, 12 May 2008 07:11 (eighteen years ago)

hopefully i'm going to do a few solo dates in new zealand in december before meeting up with my partner in crime in australia. i'm trying to work out the logistics of it at the moment but will keep you informed if it comes together.

stirmonster, Monday, 12 May 2008 15:03 (eighteen years ago)

thanks stirmonster! the astronauts report it feels good.

Anyone heard the Sleepwalk mix yet?

Neil S, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 13:53 (seventeen years ago)

Yes. It's great! Starts off with three minutes of sea noises (Chris Watson) and then gets crazy fun. Introduced me to Wall Of Voodoo's 'Ring Of Fire' cover - I made brief reference to this on here a couple of weeks ago

The Slash My Father Wrote (DJ Mencap), Tuesday, 28 October 2008 14:19 (seventeen years ago)

Okay, will be getting this forthwith then!

Neil S, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 14:30 (seventeen years ago)

Ooh, better pick that up.

Anyone know any details on possible Aus/NZ dates in December? The website's info ends in Nov.

etc, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 14:31 (seventeen years ago)

australia dates in february. sadly nz dates fell apart.

stirmonster, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 14:36 (seventeen years ago)

Eh, we're used to it. Know whether it'll be early or late Feb for Aussie? Tempted to go over for the Primitive Calculators reunion + Afrirampo at ATP 09 in Jan .. could make a holiday out've it.

etc, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 14:48 (seventeen years ago)

it is looking like the weekends of feb 6/7 (canberra / playground festival), 13/14 (melbourne / perth) and the 20th (sydney). this all has to be 100% confirmed though.

stirmonster, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 14:56 (seventeen years ago)

Will Sleepwalk be getting a US release?

Telephone thing, Tuesday, 28 October 2008 16:20 (seventeen years ago)

tracklisting looks great on that one, i'll have to grab it on itunes once i get home.

anyone like that naum gabo release on dissident? http://www.flexx.be/item/gabo001

i like it quite a bit. and that betty botox stuff is killer (i assume you all know this, though)
