nah i mean -- i've done stuff here or there, kind of compiling favorite songs or once i did an all-Baltimore playlist for an Idolator year-end feature, but mostly i just stick to scattered blogging/freelancing about whatever local rap i'm into, it would just be a slippery slope as far as getting into any kind of mixtape-making where i wouldn't do it unless i got really serious about it and produced beats or A&R'd exclusive material or whatever. but i did put up 20 mp3s from my 20 favorite releases of 2010 a while back, linked to it on the year-end goon poll thread: http://governmentnames.blogspot.com/2011/01/top-20-baltimore-hip-hop-releases-of.html

some dude, Monday, 14 March 2011 20:31 (fifteen years ago)

i'm really enjoying some of the trax deej posted, particularly cousin fik and square off - am really taken by the latter, loved "where dat chicken at" too

also loving "gold mouth dawg", i don't think that kind of banger will ever fail to hit my sweetspot

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 15 March 2011 04:06 (fifteen years ago)

maybe the most audacious ross lie to date

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 15 March 2011 04:07 (fifteen years ago)

nice zombies sample

flopson, Tuesday, 15 March 2011 04:07 (fifteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 15 March 2011 04:08 (fifteen years ago)

really feelin "on some other shit" & "shadow of death" off black hippy. former reminds me of the cuts w/ dilated peoples & medaphoar & oh no on the first lootpack album the way the verses trade off abruptly & come in w/ these weird flows (black hippy, that's all i need to get busy/turn your music to a frisbee then make your bitch frisk me). can't say i f/w most of the rest though, had to skip thru quite a few verses

flopson, Tuesday, 15 March 2011 04:49 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i mean i dont take it real serious as a release its just sorta fun like some old heiro ish

deej, Tuesday, 15 March 2011 04:53 (fifteen years ago)

i like 'try me' a lot too

deej, Tuesday, 15 March 2011 05:00 (fifteen years ago)

oh that saigon album finally came out? i guess i'll give it a listen though it seems like his style is out of time by at least 4 or 5 years now

ciderpress, Tuesday, 15 March 2011 05:20 (fifteen years ago)

well that's literally how old the songs on the album are, so can't really fault it for that

some dude, Tuesday, 15 March 2011 13:16 (fifteen years ago)

"When we first met, we really didn't talk about doing business; we talked about music the whole time," says Danny of what endeared him to Fool's Gold. "That was the illest thing to me, because I sat down with a lot of labels and all we were talking about was, 'How can we make this project work?' and this and that. Fool's Gold was all about being fans of music, and 'How can we make Danny Brown better?' I didn't know they were such huge hip-hop nerds. A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, you think of dance music, but they're real knowledgeable with everything."

"Fool's Gold is thrilled to bring Danny Brown into our family," says A-Trak. "We've been supporting his music on our blog for a long time, so we're fans of his before anything else. Danny Brown represents a return to raw, gritty rap. His skills can't be questioned. He sounds and looks like no one out there, and that's something that appeals to us. We share the same grassroots values, and we can't wait to get behind his new album!" Stay tuned for more details on Danny's inaugural Fool's Gold release.

I just want to give a shout-out to Buzzy Beetles (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 15 March 2011 17:31 (fifteen years ago)

http://nahright.com/news/2011/03/15/80-blocks-from-tiffanys-pete-rock-camp-lo-mic-check/

this song is okay, always love Camp Lo, but i'd like to hear them over a more lush/smooth beat...
