I would have thought we've got a shitload of reliable metrics w/ respect to music popularity in 2011, last fm charts for example

well, i think we have some reliable metrics & i do believe that youtube plays/last fm scrobbles etc are amongst some of the more reliable, but we still don't have tons of context w/ those

that said the youtube play count for "yonkers" is something tangible i would point at to illustrate ofwgkta's growing popularity, if i was inclined to do such a thing

well it had like 1m views in three days which was long before kanye tweeted it

i'm actually wrong about that but the stats show that it crossed the 1m mark on 2/20 which was three days before ye's tweet

anyway kanye's tweet is a def a huge referral point for the video but referrals from all of twitter only account for 98k of its views & that's out of... 2 million+, so don't go overboard
