like the kim kardash, it succeeds because of how lite her voice is - i love how it actually dares to drop the beat out for longer than you expect, and it sounds so soft and untethered. and of course the woman who gave us "waiting for tonight" over a decade ago is adept at this miami house bizniz. also, is that...an accordion?

That's the sample yes, and the song wouldn't be much without its hook. But then again 'Lambada' is pretty damn catchy.

the gossip's cover of "careless whisper" was great, agree that the "are you that somebody" one was risible

I know that supposedly Beth Ditto has this "personality" and is a known singer and whatever, but I could have got into that video so much more if they'd substituted her face with a model's a la Black Box.

I do quite like the song, I just wish she was a bit more anonymous. It reminds me a lot, for some reason, of Billie Ray Martin's "Your Loving Arms", although I really can't find a reason why. How long before this 90s comeback starts to manifest itself in the pop music of today's superstars?
