LOL OMG CAN I WRITE ON JOHN CENA KTHXBYE

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 May 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

What if Tiffany's been emailing?!

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Monday, 10 May 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, Tim: email me at [email protected], and we'll see if it works.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 10 May 2004 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, Tiffany: email me at [email protected], and we'll see if it works.

tim never answered if he could feel me near him

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 10 May 2004 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

he did but it got spam filtered

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 10 May 2004 19:59 (twenty-two years ago)

that's an odd euphamism for contraceptives

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 10 May 2004 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

EW "spam filter" EW EW EW

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 May 2004 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll try again from both my e-mail addresses but they've both got .au suffixes (if that is the problem). If that doesn't work I'll set up a hotmail account.

Strongo,
You know that "i feel you"
Is not the words I want to say to you
All that you have to do
Is close your eyes then you'll feel it too

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 10 May 2004 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 10 May 2004 22:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I want Tiffany's thoughts on Luomo immediatley.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Monday, 10 May 2004 22:26 (twenty-two years ago)

What's weird is that you can sing Colin's comment to the song Strongo invoked.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 May 2004 22:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Does not compute.

Commander Riker (numbertwo), Monday, 10 May 2004 22:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I sense some.. sort of relief. Like a communication problem has been solved.

Deanna Troi, Tuesday, 11 May 2004 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

What's weird is that you can sing Colin's comment to the song Strongo invoked.

Only if it were some sort of vocoded Zapp and Roger version.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Soulwax to thread!

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I see no problem with that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like this thread to live on. Can people please bring other things to my attention?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 02:15 (twenty-two years ago)

ATTENTION TIM FINNEY

...did you finally get the new Orbital album? And have you added me to your slsk list and shouldn't I add you and maybe you should drop me an e-mail etc.?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 02:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't have slsk as I am a mac nerd (but not enough of one to make slsk myself; esp. since the computer I download with isn't even at my own house). ==> I haven't heard the new Orbital cd. I understand it is good though!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't have slsk as I am a mac nerd

Ah! There are Mac clients now my friend, for I am Macboy too. :-) Drop myself or Elvis T. a line, or check out some of the threads around here, there's been some posting about them.

And yes, quite good, I just finished relistening to it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 02:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Vaguely related: I've found out i'm receiving an iPod for my birthday, which is marvellous and totally outta leftfield.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 02:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Attention Tim Finney : Why do you never invite us all to the booty parties your flatmates sometimes hold? The whole of Melbourne want onboard.

cnwb (cnwb), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 06:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Unfortunately I don't live with my old flatmates anymore! I finally moved in with my boyfriend who is not so pro-booty.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 05:10 (twenty-two years ago)

[insert obvious "so why'd you move in with him, hyuck hyuck" joke here]

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

attn. tim finney: sorry i didn't respond to yr last email with anything like timeliness. i have not heard of a single one of those ukg tracks!

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Attn. Tim: a Soulseek thread which mentions Nicotine, the program you'd want, and other good Mac-centric details.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

For those that might be interested, skykicking is currently operating at a (temporary? permanent) new address while Tripod fucks me around.

Jess I want some reciprocal suggestions!

Ned I'll check that out asap - thanks.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 12 May 2004 23:59 (twenty-two years ago)

He is on very good form. Solid gold recommendations.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I have absolutely no idea how he does it.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Why, by listening and writing and thinking with that mighty fine mind of his, o' course.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:17 (twenty-one years ago)

He's a boy wonder. A marvel of modern science.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:27 (twenty-one years ago)

"How ya doin?"

I'm good! V. busy as per, working too much, not studying enough, but who needs Civil Procedure anyway? How are you and Keith etc?

Also official video in production now.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 17 September 2004 05:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm good. Pretty behind at uni though. Hey my brother is putting on a noise/sound art and psych improv night at Bus Gallery, 117 Little Lonsdale St tomorrow. Him and Ollee and Mark from Synaesthesia are performing. Maybe I should take this to the Attention Melbourne thread

Keith McD, Friday, 17 September 2004 05:52 (twenty-one years ago)

This seems like as good a thread as any to announce that skykicking has changed address. Go here from now on.

Get Physical indeed

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 06:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim, good defense of White Houses (I stand by my criticisms: too much hiding of light under bushels - great chorus, why hide it by hiving it off so much), but do you like Vanessa's take on Where The Streets Have No Name? That's going to be harder to justify.

edward o (edwardo), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 06:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just sorry you didn't include your Weekly writings in with the "Articles" links :`-(

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Tuesday, 9 November 2004 07:08 (twenty-one years ago)

seven months pass...

I didn't have the physical or emotional energy to do 2023 write-ups sorry (maybe 2024 will be my year), but I did make this incomplete/partial playlist of stuff I loved from last year:

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5h47izuNqetbkpyOumi8rk?si=0ae54b77556d4f99

Will try to call out a few in the EOY voting thread.

Tim F, Tuesday, 9 January 2024 21:54 (two years ago)

so much good stuff I wouldn't have heard otherwise! thanks Tim. enjoying Madeline Kinney right now.

what you say is true but by no means (lukas), Tuesday, 9 January 2024 22:16 (two years ago)

Thanks Tim! I see 5 out of 10 of my own top 10. 7 if I count the artists from which I chose other song instead.

A shame there’s no writeup this year, would’ve loved to read your takes on them but the playlist is terrific.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 10 January 2024 14:07 (two years ago)

Are they ranked in order? First time hearing this Cloth song and I loved it.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 10 January 2024 14:13 (two years ago)

Not in order but in a vague attempt at flow, and I also tried to minimise overlap with other playlists I had made so sometimes the song chosen isn’t necessarily a standout favourite from the artist’s album.

But yeah the entire Cloth album is just really lovely, one of my favourites of the year for sure.

Tim F, Wednesday, 10 January 2024 19:35 (two years ago)

I keep finding great songs in here. Delilah Holiday - silent streets was off my radar and I’m currently obsessed with it.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 11 January 2024 15:48 (two years ago)

Cheers for this and for your artpop playlist, Tim! Also loving Cloth.

etc, Tuesday, 23 January 2024 20:40 (two years ago)

thanks Tim, excited to hear your playlist. recently I'm taking a break from deep dives into older genres/artists to check more new music. like back in those lovely UKG days. whatever happened to r/t/c - does he post under a different name now?

Paul, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 02:22 (two years ago)

thanks moka and etc!

This is the 2023 art-pop playlist etc means btw: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4WdPNCsDegk7ZdsdKwswwu?si=ae075c46ed50449c

Paul, sadly I don't know what happened to r|t|c, but he hasn't posted for many years now - and if he had changed user names I think we would have worked it out by now!

Tim F, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 03:02 (two years ago)

i miss him

eleven months pass...

I have been tinkering with a "best of 2024" "shortlist", but at something like 13.5 hours it's still unfeasibly long, so I made this more approachable "sampler" of some of the music I loved in 2024. Do not listen if you hate me.

Tim Finney do you have any ideas for that recent “songs that sound like the bayside boys rmx of Macarena” thread?

Tim, did you ever get paid?

Hope you got paid for that Luomo piece in the end.

a ZX spectrum is haunting Europe (Daniel_Rf), Tuesday, 16 December 2025 12:40 (five months ago)

Lol the two tracks I enjoyed the most from your best-of that you shared mid-year (I think?) are missing from your final list (“marry me maia” and “CDs”)

✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 18 December 2025 02:49 (five months ago)

Yeah there’s only a little bit of overlap from prior playlists - this definitely isn’t comprehensive even as a personal taste barometer
