I hope it at least means that we get "Pass Out" next.

Or maybe something awesome and new.
― banjee trillness (The Reverend), Friday, 18 February 2011 07:24 (fifteen years ago)
jessie j has broken the hot 100
this is just the beginning
― teenage cream (J0rdan S.), Friday, 18 February 2011 21:17 (fifteen years ago)
i hope that one day when the books on 50 cent as a marketer AND viral marketing successes in music are written, that everyone remembers when 50 cent came on to dance to jeremih's "down on me" w/ some random internet dude in a video that now sits at 29 million views (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=50+cent+down+on+me+keenan&aq=) in the process vaulting a jeremih song that no one cared about to one of the biggest rap/r&b hits of 2011
― pop the s1ock (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 02:53 (fifteen years ago)
that's pretty weird! i've heard the song on the radio a lot for a while, though, don't know if that video really has anything to do w/ that.
― some dude, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 03:19 (fifteen years ago)
idk if there's any way to check a song's billboard performance by a week but i'm almost positive that the song had a fairly large re-entry into the hot 100 (like into the 80s maybe) the week after that video dropped & has risen slowly to where it is now
― pop the s1ock (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 03:22 (fifteen years ago)
yeah it's possible, i could see it getting a bump from that but it seemed somewhat pre-destined as a hit (at least moreso than any other recent Jeremih and/or 50 song) from the jump
― some dude, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 03:34 (fifteen years ago)
that jeremih album was mad underrated around here, not a lot of possible singles like the first one (which is a classic) but i guess by virtue of having fiddy this one's a good choice. not one of my favorite songs from it tho
― kl0p's son (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 03:58 (fifteen years ago)
http://acharts.us/song/58713
check the boxes for the "us singles top 100" (the hot 100) and "us airplay top 100" (hot 100 airplay) then click the "draw graph" thing to have it draw a pretty picture for you. to me it looks like a pretty typical chart trajectory: debuts, falls a little bit because initial sales begin to lag while airplay catches up, then eventually things align pretty well until it eventually peaks. that video was released november 8th, which was during billboard's sales tracking week going from the 8th to the 14th. for whatever strange reason, this corresponds to the chart dated november 27th, which is actually when the track debuted on the hot 100 at #67.
that said, i think that vid has definitely done something because i have at least one friend who only heard the song because of that video.
in other news, i am kind of shocked that a jennifer lopez song is in the upper reaches of the itunes singles chart right now.
― teledyldonix, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 07:00 (fifteen years ago)
it was dormant for two months (on itunes in mid sept), video w/ famous internet star is posted, track debuts in the top 70 of the hot 100 = a pretty good case that the video made it a hit (or at least sparked it to be a hit)
― pop the s1ock (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 07:06 (fifteen years ago)
oh wow, it was out in september. yeah that definitely makes sense then
― teledyldonix, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 07:13 (fifteen years ago)
oh so that's why that jeremih song has been hanging round the uk charts too despite no evidence of any promo push lol
― lex pretend, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 09:24 (fifteen years ago)
down on me is a drumma boy production fwiw
― flopson, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 15:29 (fifteen years ago)
i doubt that anyone cares about such things but the pitbull/t-pain hit is suuuuuch a rip off of "sexy bitch"
― pop the s1ock (J0rdan S.), Friday, 25 February 2011 21:09 (fifteen years ago)
I don't think I've been able to listen to it long enough to go into comparisons.
― banjee trillness (The Reverend), Friday, 25 February 2011 21:14 (fifteen years ago)
"Hey Baby (Drop It To The Floor)" is so soul-killingly unpleasant it makes me want to forget ever listening to and enjoying any music by either Pitbull or T-Pain.
― some dude, Friday, 25 February 2011 21:26 (fifteen years ago)
the lyrics in the chorus are beyond nonsensical
― pop the s1ock (J0rdan S.), Friday, 25 February 2011 21:30 (fifteen years ago)
the funny thing is that benny benassi apparently is trying to do some david guetta thing & he got t-pain on the first single called "electroman" or some shit & it sounds juuust like the pitbull song minus anyone caring about it
― pop the s1ock (J0rdan S.), Friday, 25 February 2011 21:31 (fifteen years ago)
"Hey Baby" is also the only top 10 hit T-Pain's had in the past 2+ years besides "Blame It," which is just so wrong.
― some dude, Friday, 25 February 2011 21:33 (fifteen years ago)
i almost feel happy for pitbull that he can just go top 10 on autopilot now but yeah that song
― pop the s1ock (J0rdan S.), Friday, 25 February 2011 21:33 (fifteen years ago)
it's almost like T-Pain is purposefully pronouncing his R's like Ke$ha now
― some dude, Friday, 25 February 2011 21:37 (fifteen years ago)
So so true.
― rendezvous then i'm through with HOOS (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 25 February 2011 21:40 (fifteen years ago)
Pitbull released at least two singles last year that are exponentially fucking better than this.

also that brief beef happened just as i got back from the rave at 6.30am in a somewhat altered state and i genuinely didn't think i could cope
"did i 4get to tip u #howrudeofme" is clearly the greatest thing anybody has ever said on twitter.
anyway is it likely that demi lovato will release an album this year? please say yes. i want it to be dramatic and tragic and amazing with lots of angry "Got Dynamite"-ish songs. is that too much to ask for.
― uberweiss, Sunday, 27 February 2011 14:48 (fifteen years ago)
it's supposed to come out in the spring, from what she's been saying about the album and what producers she's working with i'm guessing it'll be clubby love songs and not very dramatic or angry
― some dude, Sunday, 27 February 2011 15:04 (fifteen years ago)
the new willow single dropped yesterday fwiw
as suspected, it's not bad, but sadly kinda generic
