well signing w/ XL not only suits who their actual fanbase is (at least at the moment) but for real i don't wish a major label on ANY rappers in 2011, let alone a group that needs to control their aesthetic & music as completely as OF

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:50 (fifteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:51 (fifteen years ago)

Not entirely sure what was so INSANE!!!1!!1 about the performance on Fallon...anyone want to enlighten me?

Darren Huckerby (Dwight Yorke), Thursday, 17 February 2011 09:02 (fifteen years ago)

do you watch much late nite tv

gr8080, Thursday, 17 February 2011 09:02 (fifteen years ago)

it is usually rare for the musical guest to, among other things, perform in ski masks, accost the other guests and physically assault the host

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 09:05 (fifteen years ago)

'physically assault' is a bit of a stretch of the imagination, but i'll grant you the ski masks.

I'm not versed enough in OFWGKTA for it to have been particularly interesting I guess.

Darren Huckerby (Dwight Yorke), Thursday, 17 February 2011 09:09 (fifteen years ago)

there was a zombie girl

they yelled in the zombie girl's face

gr8080, Thursday, 17 February 2011 09:11 (fifteen years ago)

'physically assault' is a bit of a stretch of the imagination,

its usually rare for musical guests to run up to the host/guest area and get in their face while performing

also tyler walking off stage and not returning was a little crazy (for late nite tv)

Mos Def is so dapper.

Only Tyler is signed to XL, yes?

It reminds me of Radiohead being on XL and the room that allows them to do other ventures and internet stuff etc. and to me it seems like something similar will be going on, just at entry level with ofwgkta. Like "Do what you want where you want and as long as its dope and as long as you come to us with something you actually want help with physical distribution and some insider ad work/connections (like tv appearances) then cool bro. Oh and hey we both may just end up making some money as well."

if there is a King Moaty, apparently he is huge into slapstick. (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 17 February 2011 10:36 (fifteen years ago)

Tyler said he just did a one-album deal with them.

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Thursday, 17 February 2011 11:41 (fifteen years ago)

yea i thought this was pretty dope; that song doesnt work as well w/ all the edits

i got up ~5 mins early to watch it before i went to work...then watched it like 3 times and am 10 mins late to work

who was the redhead guest

johnny crunch, Thursday, 17 February 2011 12:11 (fifteen years ago)

red head looked familiar. black guy guest didn't. once i see her name it will become super obvious.

i thought it was dope, although i wish the roots contributed more than ?uest and a horn.

This from an article by Noz in The Wire

"His college professor mother was coincidentally recommended Odd Future by a student and, needless to say, was displeased to find her own son rapping about raping. This, compunded by a minor trespassing arrest (he and Tyler snuck into school after hours to film a skate video), inspired her to send him 'somewhere' - to relatives if not to a boot camp."

^i was just looking for that, yea ;_;

johnny crunch, Thursday, 17 February 2011 14:46 (fifteen years ago)

I get what icey's saying in that there's a fanboy vibe up in here, but that's cool cuz I haven't heard shit, especially rap shit, that made me wanna be a fanboy in a long time

on the other hand his attitude towards OF makes me think icey hates america and all she stands for

it made me wish batman had written an article on mfas (Edward III), Thursday, 17 February 2011 14:50 (fifteen years ago)

in the 6 month life of this thread tyler went from giving out his albums on internet forums to manhandling jimmy fallon, if you think that is a story that's gonna make ppl who were digging OF's music sit back and stroke their beards thoughtfully well w/e
