I actually like that about 25% of the show is crowd sourced humor, but this is totally the wrong thread to get into this.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:56 (fifteen years ago)

tyler runs really fast

flopson, Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:56 (fifteen years ago)

it's crowd sourced, but it ain't humor

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:56 (fifteen years ago)

tyler's physicality while he performs is super impressive. Mos Def yelling SWAG at the camera was sort of :|

Alex in Montreal, Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:59 (fifteen years ago)

the one time i saw a couple minutes of fallon he was trying to get people to guess a number or something, like, answer impossible questions. it was ok. kind of like

flopson, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:00 (fifteen years ago)

im personally embarrassed for you alls weird obsession w/this shitty group

ice cr?m, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:01 (fifteen years ago)

idk i find the mos def thing kind of endearing -- him and tyler had a nice hug at the end there

watching again it was actually a pretty awesome performance -- there's always this weird thing when you have performers w/ tons of energy in a staid TV setting like this, but also because the whole thing was genuinely weird & halting even if you're completely familiar w/ odd future

but it was still pretty great, hurt mostly by the fact that they were doing a song on TV that was never meant to be edited in any fashion

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:03 (fifteen years ago)

joe u don't even listen to music

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:03 (fifteen years ago)

not true he likes das racist

flopson, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:04 (fifteen years ago)

oh

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:06 (fifteen years ago)

the vibe on this thread is v 'rolling teen pop' or whatever that thread everyone used to make fun of was, it doesnt seem healthy

ice cr?m, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:07 (fifteen years ago)

i get good vibes from this thread. imo this is less ilm teenpop than most rap threads bc lots of posters who generally arent into the more populist gangsta rap stuff that they are made to feel guilty for not liking are into it too, its like a rare common ground

flopson, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:12 (fifteen years ago)

i'm not even gonna get into how this is nothing like the teen pop thread

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:13 (fifteen years ago)

really if anything it most reminds me of this thread NE-YO v THE DREAM i wonder who started it, oh

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:14 (fifteen years ago)

thread vibe lawyer

HOOS the master?? STEEN NUFF (BIG HOOS aka the steendriver), Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:17 (fifteen years ago)

if i had to go back and c&p all the strange teen fascination posts in this thread it would be like a quarter of them - and the music is so lame and spazzy

ice cr?m, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:22 (fifteen years ago)

honestly i'm a big driving force behind big sprawling fanboy threads like this one & the-dream thread & the gucci thread and i'm proud of all of them & cherish how they're able to chart what i & other posters feel about incredibly important music to me in real time & i would never consider posting in another fashion

& i think all those threads have some of the best actual discussion on ilm since i've been reading at least

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:22 (fifteen years ago)

^^ ilm fanboy manifesto we can all get behind ^^

flopson, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:24 (fifteen years ago)

the dream and gucci make at least worthwhile music this shit is just the corpse of awful 90s no skill undie rap - and thats sort of reflected in the fact that theres not that much talk abt the qualities of the music these kids make - but there is a lot of omg sooo crazy - its just distasteful

ice cr?m, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:29 (fifteen years ago)

have u read the thread though

flopson, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:31 (fifteen years ago)

oh, hmm...my gripe with Odd Future isn't the music at all, it's the omg sooo crazy vocals (which are most stupid than crazy).

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:32 (fifteen years ago)

no the beats are hot and the lyrics are way memorable.. the "omg so crazy" shit is just a bonus

billstevejim, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:32 (fifteen years ago)

you fuckin troll anyway

billstevejim, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:33 (fifteen years ago)

no this music is legit awful no taste uncool shit, any trolling milage is bonus

ice cr?m, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:40 (fifteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:46 (fifteen years ago)

it's so lol to me how these kids are ~going mainstream~. actually did an irl lol when the xl press release landed in my inbox. like...of course he's on xl now. it's so...obvious.

lex pretend, Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:06 (fifteen years ago)

schreiber himself coming out of his self-imposed journalistic embargo to write about OF is v weird to me

i don't understand this

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:08 (fifteen years ago)

what's wrong w/ a rap group going mainstream?

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:09 (fifteen years ago)

one who cites, like, eminem and waka flocka as major influences

this should be the first sign

max, Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:14 (fifteen years ago)

nothing's wrong with it!

lex pretend, Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:18 (fifteen years ago)

i guess the "indie" route they've ended up taking is what's funny? like you'd never find waka or na'tee signed to xl

lex pretend, Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:18 (fifteen years ago)

it makes total sense from a label whose other current rap signing is giggs

lex pretend, Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:20 (fifteen years ago)

yeah -- i honestly don't have any feelings like "omg this is end times!!" or w/e because hell rap dilettantes (i won't use the other word) have been latching onto rappers that i love pretty much ever since i've been reading music writing on the internet, so it's not something that really bothers me, and generally speaking i don't feel like OF-loving indie kids are necessarily "missing the point" or "liking them for the wrong reason" (not on a whiney-style hipsters are racists for liking cam'ron tip, just not valuing the same things in the music that i do) (altho i do sorta feel that way in the fact that there seems to be a divide b/w ppl that love rap preferring earl/mellowhype to tyler who is much more like a confessional indie solo artist in a sense) -- maybe i'm wrong about that tho

& also as a person that writes about rap on the internet it's also something i've been complicit in (turning people, even non-heads, onto stuff) even in some very small part, so w/e

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:22 (fifteen years ago)

that's an xpost to max

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:23 (fifteen years ago)

well signing w/ XL not only suits who their actual fanbase is (at least at the moment) but for real i don't wish a major label on ANY rappers in 2011, let alone a group that needs to control their aesthetic & music as completely as OF

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:24 (fifteen years ago)

btw this thread is the fifth google result for "odd future wolf gang kill them all"
