And the complete chaos at the end was too.
(still meh on the track itself)

it's not their best song
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:36 (fifteen years ago)
Mos Def is basically the David Bowie of rap where anytime some new group is on the come up he's there to make sure you know he's still with it
― tellysavalas (some dude), Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:36 (fifteen years ago)
yeah that was kinda neat kinda anticlimactic, mainly it's just cool that a late nite show picked them up this early in their lifecycle
― ciderpress, Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:38 (fifteen years ago)
well, on the other hand he could be doing BET ciphers w/ cyhi da prynce, kid cudi and big sean, so i think stanning for odd future is aight
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:39 (fifteen years ago)
it was much better as a visual & statement than a performance, which is probably to be expected -- but ski masks + studio rampage were all worth it
MOS DEF!

this show is so, so unfunny

Fallon is funny wtf
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:52 (fifteen years ago)
ha i didn't notice the ppl screaming "free earl!!" at the very beginning
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:52 (fifteen years ago)
fallon himself is pretty funny yeah but the show is seriously god awful
like, i've never seen a late night show or really any comedy show rely so heavily on 'audience participation' in lieu of writing jokes -- like, "dance your hat and gloves off" is really a thing they put on TV as a whole segment? ban jimmy fallon
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:54 (fifteen years ago)
and EVERY show is like that, at least the ones i've seen -- spin a carpet sample wheel, throw hot dogs thru a hole in a piece of poster board etc etc it's not even comedy
I actually like that about 25% of the show is crowd sourced humor, but this is totally the wrong thread to get into this.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:56 (fifteen years ago)
tyler runs really fast
― flopson, Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:56 (fifteen years ago)
it's crowd sourced, but it ain't humor
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:56 (fifteen years ago)
tyler's physicality while he performs is super impressive. Mos Def yelling SWAG at the camera was sort of :|
― Alex in Montreal, Thursday, 17 February 2011 06:59 (fifteen years ago)
the one time i saw a couple minutes of fallon he was trying to get people to guess a number or something, like, answer impossible questions. it was ok. kind of likehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjOZtWZ56lc
― flopson, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:00 (fifteen years ago)
im personally embarrassed for you alls weird obsession w/this shitty group
― ice cr?m, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:01 (fifteen years ago)
idk i find the mos def thing kind of endearing -- him and tyler had a nice hug at the end there
watching again it was actually a pretty awesome performance -- there's always this weird thing when you have performers w/ tons of energy in a staid TV setting like this, but also because the whole thing was genuinely weird & halting even if you're completely familiar w/ odd future
but it was still pretty great, hurt mostly by the fact that they were doing a song on TV that was never meant to be edited in any fashion
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:03 (fifteen years ago)

the vibe on this thread is v 'rolling teen pop' or whatever that thread everyone used to make fun of was, it doesnt seem healthy
― ice cr?m, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:07 (fifteen years ago)
i get good vibes from this thread. imo this is less ilm teenpop than most rap threads bc lots of posters who generally arent into the more populist gangsta rap stuff that they are made to feel guilty for not liking are into it too, its like a rare common ground
― flopson, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:12 (fifteen years ago)
i'm not even gonna get into how this is nothing like the teen pop thread
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:13 (fifteen years ago)
really if anything it most reminds me of this thread NE-YO v THE DREAM i wonder who started it, oh

if i had to go back and c&p all the strange teen fascination posts in this thread it would be like a quarter of them - and the music is so lame and spazzy
― ice cr?m, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:22 (fifteen years ago)
honestly i'm a big driving force behind big sprawling fanboy threads like this one & the-dream thread & the gucci thread and i'm proud of all of them & cherish how they're able to chart what i & other posters feel about incredibly important music to me in real time & i would never consider posting in another fashion
& i think all those threads have some of the best actual discussion on ilm since i've been reading at least
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:22 (fifteen years ago)
^^ ilm fanboy manifesto we can all get behind ^^
― flopson, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:24 (fifteen years ago)
the dream and gucci make at least worthwhile music this shit is just the corpse of awful 90s no skill undie rap - and thats sort of reflected in the fact that theres not that much talk abt the qualities of the music these kids make - but there is a lot of omg sooo crazy - its just distasteful
― ice cr?m, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:29 (fifteen years ago)
have u read the thread though
― flopson, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:31 (fifteen years ago)
oh, hmm...my gripe with Odd Future isn't the music at all, it's the omg sooo crazy vocals (which are most stupid than crazy).
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:32 (fifteen years ago)
no the beats are hot and the lyrics are way memorable.. the "omg so crazy" shit is just a bonus
― billstevejim, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:32 (fifteen years ago)
you fuckin troll anyway
― billstevejim, Thursday, 17 February 2011 07:33 (fifteen years ago)
no this music is legit awful no taste uncool shit, any trolling milage is bonus

it's so lol to me how these kids are ~going mainstream~. actually did an irl lol when the xl press release landed in my inbox. like...of course he's on xl now. it's so...obvious.

what's wrong w/ a rap group going mainstream?
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 February 2011 08:09 (fifteen years ago)
one who cites, like, eminem and waka flocka as major influences

i guess the "indie" route they've ended up taking is what's funny? like you'd never find waka or na'tee signed to xl
