acoleuthic, Monday, 14 February 2011 19:24 (fifteen years ago)

They're finally releasing "Follow Me Around" in some form? Interesting...

Ned Raggett, Monday, 14 February 2011 19:24 (fifteen years ago)

This site says the avg. for those who paid was $6, but only 38% of people paid anything.

Fellini.Kuti, Monday, 14 February 2011 19:26 (fifteen years ago)

it's a song about twitter. the chorus contains the line "please rt, please rt"

markers, Monday, 14 February 2011 19:26 (fifteen years ago)

That youtube account is not real.

Melissa W, Monday, 14 February 2011 19:26 (fifteen years ago)

aw

acoleuthic, Monday, 14 February 2011 19:27 (fifteen years ago)

The Daily Mail is a real song though.

Melissa W, Monday, 14 February 2011 19:29 (fifteen years ago)

yay

acoleuthic, Monday, 14 February 2011 19:31 (fifteen years ago)

Whether or not this is any good at all, or overpriced or not, the one definitely fantastic thing about it is that it's released on a Saturday.

Although UK music releases are now all on a Monday and have been for ages - SOME OF US CAN REMEMBER when new records were released on a Friday.

If I recall correctly (although I do so increasingly infrequently).

But there was, then, the added excitement of getting a new record just in time for the weekend.

And Monday is far too far from the weekend, and from the first opportunity for many people to get a decent chance to listen to new stuff.

There are 6 other days of the week - at least - that would be better than Monday for music being released.

Saturday is, undoubtedly, one of these other days that is not a Monday.

Supposedly it's 8 tracks long.

Davek (davek_00), Monday, 14 February 2011 20:22 (fifteen years ago)

that increases the chances of EPICNESS :D

acoleuthic, Monday, 14 February 2011 20:24 (fifteen years ago)

Be nice to hear Follow Me Around after years of crappy live versions and a cobbled together version from Meeting People is Easy.

philippe is standing on it (MaresNest), Monday, 14 February 2011 20:25 (fifteen years ago)

a radiohead album full of 8-minute songs runs a very high risk of being my album of the year, and I'm not ashamed to say that

acoleuthic, Monday, 14 February 2011 20:25 (fifteen years ago)

I was about to say...there could a few 5-minute plus-ers

Davek (davek_00), Monday, 14 February 2011 20:26 (fifteen years ago)

Longer Radiohead songs could potentially fall into two categories: an extension of the song suite multi-part epic ala Paranoid Android, or a more Krautrock derived gradual build or trance.

Gah I'm fumbling around in the dark here..

Davek (davek_00), Monday, 14 February 2011 20:29 (fifteen years ago)

man they are really fucking those of us that want the vinyl :/

this only further increases my suspiscion that it is a song-by-song reinterpretation of Rush's Grace Under Pressure

ciderpress, Monday, 14 February 2011 20:32 (fifteen years ago)

dude grace is an underrated rush jawn, i'm thinking about this

8 tracks? Now I'm getting really amped up.

Moka, Monday, 14 February 2011 20:37 (fifteen years ago)

Looking forward to "Paranoid Android Part 2"

billstevejim, Monday, 14 February 2011 20:38 (fifteen years ago)

Omg "Follow Me Around" really?!?

billstevejim, Monday, 14 February 2011 20:42 (fifteen years ago)

I don't know where you guys are hearing about Follow Me Around..

Davek (davek_00), Monday, 14 February 2011 20:58 (fifteen years ago)

Well it's more than likely going to be the same song right?

philippe is standing on it (MaresNest), Monday, 14 February 2011 20:59 (fifteen years ago)

haha i luv radiohehead Wild Speculation & Rumor Day

Cosmo Vitelli, Monday, 14 February 2011 21:07 (fifteen years ago)

the way it says 8 tracks FROM makes it sound like its a sampler. pretty sure they wouldnt do that though.

I'm getting the mp3 version, but if this were true, I'd definitely shell out the $50 for the vinyl version. Hopefully Radiohead is at least reading this thread and getting some awesome ideas for their next LP.

Moodles, Monday, 14 February 2011 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

FWIW, here's the digital fulfillment company Radiohead is working with: http://sandbag.uk.com/

Placed my order for the 320 version. I'm through with physical objects.

i love it when a suggest ban comes together (cajunsunday), Monday, 14 February 2011 21:33 (fifteen years ago)

I want all the songs to sound like a cross between "In Limbo" & "I Might Be Wrong"

kingkongvsbasedgodzilla (Drugs A. Money), Monday, 14 February 2011 21:44 (fifteen years ago)

(with maybe some "National Anthem" & "Uptight" thrown in for good measure)

kingkongvsbasedgodzilla (Drugs A. Money), Monday, 14 February 2011 21:45 (fifteen years ago)

This "Uptight"?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDbyOLzEyfk

Cause yeah, more Radiohead songs need to sound like that.

MarkoP, Monday, 14 February 2011 21:54 (fifteen years ago)

Pre-ordered. And I have to say, 36 euros including p&p seems like a really good deal. Esp. considering p&p would come to what, 10 euros at least for what seams a heavy box.

A 4 tracks/sides album would be sublime, but I'll sign for a mere 8!

La descente infernale (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 14 February 2011 22:02 (fifteen years ago)

oh man I cannot wait for this

went to the record store recently and the guy was selling a seven inch with die cut boloney in a zip lock bag packaged with it. They hadn't sold in his online store fast enough so when I asked about what was in the bag he threw them all out.

bamcquern, Tuesday, 15 February 2011 00:47 (fifteen years ago)

I mean, it was several copies of the seven inch all with aging boloney.

bamcquern, Tuesday, 15 February 2011 00:48 (fifteen years ago)

Kinda surprised it's only eight tracks, as their records are generally quite uniform as being 10-12 3 to 5 min. tracks (with the exceptions of "Paranoid Android" and Hail to the Thief being 14 tracks). Makes m wonder if they've got more material on the way, esp. since they've been working on this stuff for ages. Pretty stoked that we have no idea whatsoever what to expect.

Simon H., Tuesday, 15 February 2011 02:33 (fifteen years ago)

Maybe it'll be a Kid A/Amnesiac kind of deal.

Melissa W, Tuesday, 15 February 2011 02:44 (fifteen years ago)

Or a bonus disc as with In Rainbows. Anyway, we'll all find out soon enough.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 15 February 2011 02:45 (fifteen years ago)

Think they would have mentioned a bonus disc? I think they mentioned the In Rainbows one.

Melissa W, Tuesday, 15 February 2011 02:48 (fifteen years ago)

In Rainbows is still sitting in a pile downstairs. I bought it, but haven't yet taken off the shrinkwrap.

Naive Teen Idol, Tuesday, 15 February 2011 03:35 (fifteen years ago)

Due Ship Date for the Newspaper Album: 9th May 2011

No offense, but it pretty clearly stated that in the information before you had to click anything.

I think I might actually cave and buy the deluxe thingamabob.

Sorry, I meant that I knew it came out then, it just seems weird to have it so far ahead

They should charge $30 for a DVD w the Protools session files.

― Telephoneface (Adam Bruneau)

Dang, I'd buy that and I don't even like Radiohead.

clamwich (staggerlee), Tuesday, 15 February 2011 05:31 (fifteen years ago)

I'll be surprised if it doesn't look like the broadsheet edition of McSweeny's. They're obviously the kind of guys who fuck w. Dave Eggers and read that publication.
