Wikipedia says the average price paid for In Rainbows was £4 (based on a survey of 3,000), and I was sure I saw somewhere else that the average was $5... Regardless, it seems inaccurate to assume they came up with those prices from In Rainbows data

just looking at the files for one song on my record here - the 320kpbs mp3 version is 10.8 mb, and the wav version is 47.9 mb

Whether or not this is any good at all, or overpriced or not, the one definitely fantastic thing about it is that it's released on a Saturday.

Although UK music releases are now all on a Monday and have been for ages - SOME OF US CAN REMEMBER when new records were released on a Friday.

If I recall correctly (although I do so increasingly infrequently).

But there was, then, the added excitement of getting a new record just in time for the weekend.

And Monday is far too far from the weekend, and from the first opportunity for many people to get a decent chance to listen to new stuff.

There are 6 other days of the week - at least - that would be better than Monday for music being released.

Saturday is, undoubtedly, one of these other days that is not a Monday.

Longer Radiohead songs could potentially fall into two categories: an extension of the song suite multi-part epic ala Paranoid Android, or a more Krautrock derived gradual build or trance.

I'm getting the mp3 version, but if this were true, I'd definitely shell out the $50 for the vinyl version. Hopefully Radiohead is at least reading this thread and getting some awesome ideas for their next LP.

Pre-ordered. And I have to say, 36 euros including p&p seems like a really good deal. Esp. considering p&p would come to what, 10 euros at least for what seams a heavy box.

A 4 tracks/sides album would be sublime, but I'll sign for a mere 8!

went to the record store recently and the guy was selling a seven inch with die cut boloney in a zip lock bag packaged with it. They hadn't sold in his online store fast enough so when I asked about what was in the bag he threw them all out.

I mean, it was several copies of the seven inch all with aging boloney.

Kinda surprised it's only eight tracks, as their records are generally quite uniform as being 10-12 3 to 5 min. tracks (with the exceptions of "Paranoid Android" and Hail to the Thief being 14 tracks). Makes m wonder if they've got more material on the way, esp. since they've been working on this stuff for ages. Pretty stoked that we have no idea whatsoever what to expect.

Maybe it'll be a Kid A/Amnesiac kind of deal.

Or a bonus disc as with In Rainbows. Anyway, we'll all find out soon enough.
