for whatever reason "Just Dance" has always been my favorite. I really love "Ehh Ehh" though, that was one of the first songs of hers I heard. I think The Fame is very patchy, whereas The Fame Monster is all solid tracks overall.

yeah echoing the "speechless" praise wrt her voice - probably her strongest vocal perfomance for me. i've also said this before but i love the little yell at the end there ("ohh boy WHY you so speechless). reminds me of courtney love almost

If a remix would qualify for the poll, I'd go with the Stuart Price remix of "Paparazzi" which is one guitar overdub away from being a long lost chillwave/NDW pop sensation. I like it more than the original.

"So Happy I Could Die" should have been a single release instead of "Alejandro" - tremendously great song that doesn't get namechecked that often.

Voted "Bad Romance" - about as unstoppable as an asteroid strike.

The very anonymity of "Just Dance" is attractive in retrospect -- like listening to Madonna's "Everybody" in 1986 and trying to divine how she became so massive.

She's still not as good a songwriter as Madonna was in 1985: she has a problem with either lame choruses or pedestrian verses. To me only "Alejandro" and "Just Dance" are complete in themselves.

alejandro's tepid homage-ination is laughable in comparison to early madonna, dear lord

problem with the Fame Monster is I bought it during a very low point for me last year, which just so happens to correspond with a breakdown I had one night, so every time I put the cd on, those memories come back.

they should fade over time tho so it can be a fun album again and all.

Madonna would never have managed to stay on top for almost 30 years now if all of her subsequent 80s hit singles had sounded like "Holiday".

I can't believe I agree with Geir. "Speechless" is her best song imo.

However, "Paparazzi" was when I finally gave up and started to like her. I personally think her first album is patchy as hell and like to think Monster is the real debut.

Another thing I find funny is that Gaga and others who take from Madonna really don't actually change their image or concepts from album to album. Closest I can think of is P!nk. I hope Gaga does something different image wise.

what does everyone consider the 'duddiest' tracks on The Fame?

For me, it's "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" (real boring hook), "Money Honey" (again, boring hook, and verse melody that is ok except for the last few notes), and "Boys Boys Boys" (meh)

my #1 is probably "telephone" but i'm gonna show "just dance" some love for being the not-so-secret proto-"telephone" song in gaga's arsenal ("i lost my phone / just dance / it'll be okay")

I guess she, and whatever people she may take those decisions together with, felt that it was too early.

After all, it did take Madonna a couple years before she took the chance on doing "Crazy For You" and "Live To Tell" as well.

Lady Gaga wanted to JUST DANCE, but the PAPARAZZI showed up, so she put on her POKER FACE, and picked up the TELEPHONE to call ALEJANDRO, she told him about living THE FAME, and he was SPEECHLESS. She said they arent playing my LOVE GAME and hung up, someone yelled MONSTER at their boyfriend and she said now thats some BAD ROMANCE then shrugged it off saying EH EH (NOTHING ELSE I CAN SAY) BOYS BOYS BOYS who were BEAUTIFUL DIRTY RICH, She was in DISCO HEAVEN, and said im SO HAPPY I COULD DIE

Of fucking course. Christina has changed her image every album thus far. Why did that blindside me. Scrap what I said about P!nk. Christina is the only one fulfilling the Madonaa mold and she is being underrated because the media has gotten dumber by the days.

to be fair back to basics was...decent but not GREAT, and bionic was just an incoherent mess of an album - kind of feel like xtina squandered that potential herself (really it just felt like she lost a bit of interest in making music, like justin did)
