I said way upthread that Ariel Pink should be something I love but it just doesn't come together for me.

Round and Round; kind of a groovy mess

If "Wut" and "Hard in the Paint" are the Top 2 then BEST ILM POLL EVERit's probably the first ILM poll where I've never even heard the top two songs. (Actually, I might've checked out "Hard in the Paint" at one point, but I don't remember it.)
― Tyler/Perry's "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)" (jaymc), Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:42 (fifteen years ago)
i don't think i've ever heard a waka track
thought he was a goon idol, not a guy anyone else had heard of or cared about
― ullr saves (gbx), Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:42 (fifteen years ago)
love both this and "can't hear my eyes" (which i voted for), but i'm kind of offended that it scored so high. this is the first placement that's actually pissed me off, and it's funny that it should be for a song i actually like. it's just that "round and round" seems like a footnote, a weird little afterthought slipped under the door of pop. it's not a TRACK OF THE YEAR contender by any measure. just a solid, a cool little tune to stick on a mixtape or w/e. should have come in at #43 or something.
― normal_fantasy-unicorns (contenderizer), Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:43 (fifteen years ago)
so do ppl just not mind all of the stuff in the song that is totally random and purposeless?
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:43 (fifteen years ago)
i dont get the ariel pink love either (same with "wut")

Sod off Ariel Pink haters. This isn't random and pointless at all. Round and round has more and better hooks than any other pop single released this year.

Ariel Pink song *might* grow on me. Would offer very strong odds against it though. Just sounds like a snoozeful smoove-indie chillathon

never heard Hard in Da Paint, only Head of the State...
'round and round' isn't as good as 'bright lit blue skies' imo but it's a good tune.
― omar little, Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:45 (fifteen years ago)
is there an uncensored version of this waka track that isn't too hard to find? i can barely make out half the lyrics ;_;
― the new mordant & zingy ilxor persona (ilxor), Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:46 (fifteen years ago)
actual huge LOL @ jonsi pic, wtffffffffff
So yeah, a couple of years ago it felt like a load of British rap fans were overcompensating for pop-grime by throwing their weight behind these really limited MCs like Tempah T and Giggs and whoever, who nevertheless had impeccable hardcore credentials. That's exactly what the Hard In Da Paint bandwagon reminds me of, it just sounds lumbering and clumsy to me.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 27 January 2011 20:46 (fifteen years ago)
FLOCKA
lol at the censored video with half of the lyrics cut out

fucking love round & round, i have no articulate way of expressing why its so good. its just very odd, catchy, and i just love the combination of wistful melancholy and goofiness. such good vibes.
also fucking love hard in da paint. should be number one.
