I've been living with my head in the sand, so The-Dream is relatively new to me, but I knew from hearing the first notes in this track that I had to hunt down as much of his stuff as I could and it's all been great!

christ the order of this top 10 is REALLY unexpected. "yamaha" was my #2 though, i had so many incredible punching-the-air moments to it in 2010 and every time i hear it i just feel like it's hugging me tightly.

i'm not gonna shit all over "Sprawl 2": it's too high considering what didn't make it but any song connecting the dots between ABBA, Blondie (the little reggae rhythms throughout) & the Knife is at the very least worthy

empty bluster that sounds like an indie kid shut-in's idea of what an e rush is like.

this is a nonsensical criticism. i say that not because i like the band (i don't, though i'm impressed by this song), but because you're judging them for not being something they never tried to be. they're not trying to capture an e-rush, but a quasi-spiritual sense of emotional immersion and transcendence. whether or not they effectively accomplish this is up for grabs, but it's not like they're trying to horn in on club music's emotional property.

If it wasn't for last year's year end poll I would never have heard the-dream. And wouldn't my 2010 have been poorer if I hadn't. My most played artist last year and this is glorious!

Shocked Terius isn't higher. Kind of expected Yamaha to pull in at #1. Regretting not ordering my trax ballot.

I actually think Yamaha is the best song Terius has been involved in, full stop. Better than Fast Car. Better than Umbrella. It feels like a song that's constantly revving up and only really shoots off right at the end. That combination of the rigid drum machine and the enormous cloud of synths swirling round in it only to finally blast off right at the end. It's just an amazing example of how to build pressure, like an extended build in a trance record or something.

Of course, if we are talking about rolling on e, there are lots of tracks on Love King that do a much better job.

holding lex to the e rush comment is unfair since it describes a vague impression of what he thought they sounded like on the first album...he probably couldn't even tell us what song(s) he heard

btw 'emotional immersion' IS what an e-rush is, chemically - while they're a little more melancholy about it, TAF are still conveying a hit of feeling

Yamaha is okay...those synths are otherworldly (much more than in the AF song) but it's not my favorite song
