liking this LCD soundsystem track, way, way better than the last one. could be they might be giants or even electropop half japanese - up into the point where the big beat kicks in, anyway. agree about the beautiful buzzy synth bass sound, but i also like the knife-style steel drum bit, too.

okok well as I said about the previous LCDS song, the synth tones are not the problem - in fact they're frequently the only thing I like. not my thing. listening to erykah now. it's smoooooth. and a little menacing. nice.

The whole Badu album is classic btw, probably my favourite of hers (though many will disagree).

I couldn't get into the Erykah album straight away (expectations too high after the last one, I think) and ended up not going back to it. Will give that track another listen when I get back, but gotta go for now.

I voted for this - it was one of my main late-spring/early-summer jams!

that LCD song is the first one on this list that I have really hated. and that synth sounds like a Reason preset to my ears. the whole song just seems so lazy and stiff to me. the only thing dynamic and interesting about it are his thin voice + overindulgent vocal flourishes.

I proudly voted for the Erykah song. its low rank makes me think I should have weighted my votes

nah i know a few others do too (deej i think). they're both amazing albums to me - i prefer part 1, but that's not a slight on part 2's completely different qualities

part 1 is certainly more earth-shattering, part 2 fits like a comfy pair of earmuffs that i never want to take off

i really wish "jump up in the air (and stay there)" had made part 2 tho, no idea why it was just a trailer video

this song meanders in the absolute best way--after the chorus, instead of going back to the verse Erykah left-turns into the stomp-n-clap of the "I need you to miss me" and then to the "come back, come back baby" and then w/o missing a beat going into the next verse, the way she's wading through all her conflicting emotions that don't quite fit...

stream-of-consciousness soul, y'gotta love it...

part 1 has 'twinkle' on it so i really doubt part 2 can win this one

it's a lovely song tho, got a real 'protection' era massive attack vibe, although more psych-neo-soul
