voted for that joanna newsom track btw! asked a friend to show me some album highlights and when that one came up I was basically all 'whoa that one is AWESOME' and whaddaya know, it's done well for itself

still haven't heard even 1/3 of the album (ffs newsom, 45 minutes is your length), but that song kills it

So psyched for the inevitable Volebeats run in the top 20.

super surprised to see it place and stoked too cause it's yeah the only song i can really take from that rec but i love the heck out of it (#didn't vote/#no unicorn)

fair enough, I'm hardly one to talk given some of the stuff I stan for. three CDs is ridiculous though

i have no desire to go back to any of them - such meandering songs.

I'm hoping that since her album last year was 3 cds long, it'll be another several years before she releases anything else.

Okay, that's not really true...people can like what they like. It's not my place to piss on it. I just think there are better ways to spend your time listening to music.

voted mindreader also, so that makes 3 of us, but I could have seen it in the top 60, but not the top 20 tbh.

btw Ys is about 45 (ok, 50) minutes and is made up entirely of such epics, and is very good, hence my line, but artistic development must be catered for, no two albums are alike, blah

thing is i find i have less and less patience w/any album with more than one cd's worth of material these days - this is obv a function of how much music i (have/want to) consume but even the e40 double album, most of which i actively LIKED, i found a little hard to digest

btw gonna digest these tomorrow, too tired tonight. seems like today was pretty stellar by most accounts :)

yeah my only complaint about most of today's lot, with only a handful of exceptions, would be "too low"

idk I quite admire the sheer bloody mindedness of releasing a triple, 3-hour album of long, dense songs in this restless, impatient age. It helps that I like the music anyway tho, I suppose.

I voted for Mind Reader as well and don't expect it to place and I'm going to blame anyone who voted for Fogs or That Mystic for this.

Nothing I like placed since I stopped following the thread today, although I don't mind Soldier Of Love I always feel it should build a bit more than it does.

Oh also this isn't the Robyn song I thought it was, this one is pretty good actually.

I love the video for "Hang With Me" — it's basically just Robyn on tour or whatever, but there's a sweetness/loneliness about it that's not often captured in makeshift "on the road" videos.
