once the list is unveiled we should do a vote w/ ballots ranking each track & see how it sorts out

i voted "mind reader" - i think if he'd had one obvious track there'd have been enough voters to get him in, but as it is they'll be split between "mind reader", "fogs" and "that mystic"

I didn't mean to hang that carrot out there for people to end up being disappointed certain things do or do not place. I just meant it's a nice cross-section of ILM taste in general.

I don't expect anything else I voted for to place (and not much has--though I had an album-oriented year anyway, so it matters to me even less than usual) except for a Monae track (or two? but probably just one).

I'm pretty damn sure my #2 vote will place actually in the top 5, so I guess everyone does include me this time.

But you did get my hopes up for a second that my number 1 song on my ballot (a metal song) might place.

i'm still confident that 4, maybe 5 more from my ballot will place - expecting one to be top 5, rest i'll be happy with top 20 showings. i have no clue what will comprise the rest of the top 20, which is good i guess!

so many good moments on this song, and album.

of things i didn't know before (i'm a hermit), loved hearing tensnake - reminded me of the studio in its ease - and the earl track (despite cringe video).

not being in a scene and not being as young as some i take and leave the ciaras and the gucci manes. good to see katy b and janelle and robyn.

every verse is orchestrated a little differently, it's really fleetwood mac-y (as sh@kedown said), the m-f tradeoff + harmonies are great for the material, the two lead guitars comment really well on the vocals, it's big and emotional and well put together

nb i'm not a pop-country dude by any stretch
