wee-based god (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:28 (fifteen years ago)

once the list is unveiled we should do a vote w/ ballots ranking each track & see how it sorts out

tuomascratch beat (deej), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:28 (fifteen years ago)

"And I regret how I said to you "Honey, just open your heart" / When I have trouble even opening a honey jar" <-great lyric.

i voted "mind reader" - i think if he'd had one obvious track there'd have been enough voters to get him in, but as it is they'll be split between "mind reader", "fogs" and "that mystic"

lextasy refix (lex pretend), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:29 (fifteen years ago)

excellent run today

prolego, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:29 (fifteen years ago)

and then we can poll them all in a March Madness bracket showdown!

xxxpost

Moodles, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:29 (fifteen years ago)

lex- Yeah, I figured Mind Reader and Fogs would have the best chance so I put them both at the top of my ballot (even though You is probably my favorite).

big jeans (lou), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:30 (fifteen years ago)

Looking at the top 20 right now and think there'll be something for everybody, so hooray for that.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:30 (fifteen years ago)

You mean Rush - "Caravan" is going to be on the list?!? Awesome!

Moodles, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:31 (fifteen years ago)

Well, maybe not everybody.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:31 (fifteen years ago)

Moodles, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:31 (fifteen years ago)

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:48 (fifteen years ago)

I didn't mean to hang that carrot out there for people to end up being disappointed certain things do or do not place. I just meant it's a nice cross-section of ILM taste in general.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:49 (fifteen years ago)

I don't expect anything else I voted for to place (and not much has--though I had an album-oriented year anyway, so it matters to me even less than usual) except for a Monae track (or two? but probably just one).

_Rudipherous_, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:50 (fifteen years ago)

I'm pretty damn sure my #2 vote will place actually in the top 5, so I guess everyone does include me this time.

But you did get my hopes up for a second that my number 1 song on my ballot (a metal song) might place.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:51 (fifteen years ago)

i'm still confident that 4, maybe 5 more from my ballot will place - expecting one to be top 5, rest i'll be happy with top 20 showings. i have no clue what will comprise the rest of the top 20, which is good i guess!

lextasy refix (lex pretend), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:52 (fifteen years ago)

What won last years poll?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:52 (fifteen years ago)

Songs I voted for that have placed so far:

Caribou, "Odessa"
El Guincho, "Bombay"
Javiera Mena, "Hasta la Verdad"
Lady Antebellum, "Need You Now"
Lady Gaga ft Beyonce, "Telephone"
Wiz Khalifa, "Black and Yellow"

Tyler/Perry's "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)" (jaymc), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:53 (fifteen years ago)

"And I regret how I said to you "Honey, just open your heart" / When I have trouble even opening a honey jar" <-great lyric.

^^^^
so many good moments on this song, and album.

of things i didn't know before (i'm a hermit), loved hearing tensnake - reminded me of the studio in its ease - and the earl track (despite cringe video).

not being in a scene and not being as young as some i take and leave the ciaras and the gucci manes. good to see katy b and janelle and robyn.

bobbyhackettscornet (whatever), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:54 (fifteen years ago)

as an antebellum voter can u explain that song to me? xp

tuomascratch beat (deej), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:55 (fifteen years ago)

this has been a great poll though, thanks johnny.

bobbyhackettscornet (whatever), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:55 (fifteen years ago)

What do you need explaining, deej?

Tyler/Perry's "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)" (jaymc), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:56 (fifteen years ago)

AG, if you can open this thread w/o crashing your browser (which I apparently can't do), you can find out: Yo P&J, I'm really happy for you, Imma let you finish, but ILX had the greatest 2009 poll of all time! All time! (2009 ILX Trax Poll Results: TOP TEN TODAY)

tuomascratch beat (deej), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:58 (fifteen years ago)

well, you're wrong, it isn't

there you go, explained

goole, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 20:59 (fifteen years ago)

don't try that AG top 3 of last year was:

Taylor Swift "You Belong With Me"
Bat for Lashes "Daniel"
Lady Gaga "Bad Romance"

― tuomascratch beat (deej), Wednesday, January 26, 2011 3:55 PM (4 minutes ago)

ha seems pretty straightforward pop song dude, they have nice voices, big emotional hook, pretty cool guitar wail in the chorus, etc

did you not like "picture" either?

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:01 (fifteen years ago)

i got rid of Two Suns, but I think I might want to listen to it again... :/

no way will this year's top 3 be better than last yr's

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:02 (fifteen years ago)

ahh

01 -- Taylor Swift - You Belong With Me (24 votes, 267.5 points, 2 #1 vote/s) (10 in P&J, 69 in p4k)

classic post from jed_ tho

music for wee lassies, is that what we've come to?

― jed_, Tuesday, 2 February 2010 23:03 (11 months ago)

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:03 (fifteen years ago)

lonely drunk ppl pining for sex, idk seems easy to see to me

wee-based god (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:03 (fifteen years ago)

i like need you now alright, altho i've been way overexposed to it & am a bit numb to its charms. loved it at first tho. nothing to get or not, mechanistically it's pure affect w/ a good hook take it or leave it

or, what k3vin said

flopson, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:03 (fifteen years ago)

that guitar wail is pretty cool, yeah

flopson, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:04 (fifteen years ago)

― fruit of the goon (k3vin k.)

cant be worse you mean?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:04 (fifteen years ago)

every verse is orchestrated a little differently, it's really fleetwood mac-y (as sh@kedown said), the m-f tradeoff + harmonies are great for the material, the two lead guitars comment really well on the vocals, it's big and emotional and well put together

nb i'm not a pop-country dude by any stretch

goole, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:05 (fifteen years ago)

ha this thread moves fast, that's about "need you now"

goole, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:05 (fifteen years ago)

I think this year's selection is already quite a bit better... and I'm one of the complainers!

Moodles, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:05 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, I'm not sure I can add more to what K3vin said -- except that I esp. like the deployment of pedal steel.

Tyler/Perry's "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)" (jaymc), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:06 (fifteen years ago)

today had some gems but yesterday was historically dire imo xp

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:07 (fifteen years ago)

ur rong AG, Daniel is fkkin awesome, and Bad Romance is up there...

though if Window Seat makes top 3 I wd like this year's more
