"good intentions paving company" is ok! tho i don't particularly care to ever hear it again. most immediate, poppy song off her album. when people compare her to joni mitchell it just shows up how hook-averse newsom generally is.

my favorite memory of this song is when i was at my friend's apartment having dinner with her other friend. this song was playing and friend #2 says "who is this?" and friend #1 excitedly says "joanna newsom!" and friend #2 says "it's horrible! turn it off." and she did.

Didn't rank my tracks, but this may be my favorite of the year. Listened to the whole album more than just about anything else in 2010, but this one stands out the most. I hope she does more songs like this in future.

Love this track to bits. Best on this list so far, imo.

i like the "in a fistfight with the fog" section on the newsom. idk i guess i admire her (and can even listen to her, now her voice is somewhat less unlistenable), but she's so...obtuse, and her songs so unlovable.
