meanwhile i wonder whether ciara's "gimmie dat" will place; if it doesn't, i'll just command everyone to go look up that incredible O_O video too. she was responsible for such a mountain of great music last year.

no way this is placing

tuomascratch beat (deej), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:22 (fifteen years ago)

yes johnny -- "lovesick" had the same number of points as ciara but needed 6 more votes

wee-based god (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:22 (fifteen years ago)

well if we're so sure "gimmie dat" isn't placing the video is here and i am in awe, actual awe, of her moves in it

lextasy refix (lex pretend), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:23 (fifteen years ago)

this next one showed up considerably higher in the other major polls

wee-based god (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:24 (fifteen years ago)

goddam, i could listen to "lovesick" all day. if i had to have just one track from my ballot show up, glad it was this one. in retrospect, i ranked it way, way too low.

normal_fantasy-unicorns (contenderizer), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:24 (fifteen years ago)

lmfao i hope it's "fuck you" aka i hope it's not in the top 10 etc

teledyldonix, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:25 (fifteen years ago)

was kinda hoping "fuck you" would just not show period. naive?

normal_fantasy-unicorns (contenderizer), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:26 (fifteen years ago)

beyond naive tbh

26. KANYE WEST FT. PUSHA T "Runaway" [396 points, 13 votes]
Youtube (not the full length 'film' btw)

wee-based god (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:27 (fifteen years ago)

I like "Lovesick" a lot, but "Baby Can't Stop" (which I realize is a 2009 single) is so clearly the highlight of that album that I never really mentally isolated any of the other tracks.

Tyler/Perry's "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)" (jaymc), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:28 (fifteen years ago)

oh it's this one

it ended up being my favorite track on the kanye album, with the caveat that i don't listen to the last few minutes usually

ciderpress, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:28 (fifteen years ago)

the weaksauce inadequacy of "runaway" highlighted even more by the mostly incredible run we've otherwise had today - i mean if you really think it's the BEST song out of all that we've had today...idk \o_0/

lextasy refix (lex pretend), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:29 (fifteen years ago)

Like this well enough, but have never seen the video...until now.

waka flocka flamini (pandemic), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:30 (fifteen years ago)

i like the single version of "runaway" just fine (tho it wouldn't even be in the top half of songs on 808s & heartbreak) but the album version is fucking tedious

wee-based god (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:30 (fifteen years ago)

Ciara track is fresh, first Dream entry on this list, yes?

Moodles, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:31 (fifteen years ago)

Despite the omnipresence of all these Kanye singles, the only one I can remember w/o a prompt is "Power". I kind of hate everything about My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:31 (fifteen years ago)

you know I remember back when Jesus Walks was up for a Song of the Year Grammy thinking that Kayne could turn into hip hop's Dylan...

welcome to the future.

last night a Drugs A. Money saved my life (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:32 (fifteen years ago)

it is one of the more tolerable tracks from that album imo, at least it's not the one with the fucking chris rock shit

teledyldonix, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:32 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, I like 'Runaway'. Agree with J0rdan about this, though: it wouldn't even be in the top half of songs on 808s & heartbreak.

emil.y, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:32 (fifteen years ago)

do not care for "runaway". at all. odds are good i'll like the next kanye track to place though.

normal_fantasy-unicorns (contenderizer), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:33 (fifteen years ago)

Ciara track is fresh, first Dream entry on this list, yes?

yeah, or at least the only one i'm aware of

TINIE TEMPAH "Pass Out" [398 points, 14 votes]
Youtube

wee-based god (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:35 (fifteen years ago)

First time I heard of Tinie Tempah was when Mark G. picked him for this year's dead pool.

Tyler/Perry's "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)" (jaymc), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:36 (fifteen years ago)

the-dream technically featured on kanye's "all of the lights"

kind of feel taylor swift should be the featured guest on "runaway", and that the lilting chorus melody is kind of crying out for her to sing along?

yay tinie tempah!

lextasy refix (lex pretend), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:36 (fifteen years ago)

TOO LOW.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:37 (fifteen years ago)

Even I, who barely venture out of the house except for work, managed to hear this plenty last year. Great!

waka flocka flamini (pandemic), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:37 (fifteen years ago)

"pass out" is the best song

wee-based god (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:37 (fifteen years ago)

oh so that's who did this track

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:37 (fifteen years ago)

too low! it felt like the biggest song of 2010

prolego, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:38 (fifteen years ago)

TOO LOW.

ya srsly :\

teledyldonix, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:38 (fifteen years ago)

I prefer "Frisky" but I don't think it was even nom'ed.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:38 (fifteen years ago)

Tinie Tempah = another one in lex's riot playlist

ilx countdown = soundtrack to the revolution fuiud

last night a Drugs A. Money saved my life (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:39 (fifteen years ago)

i know it's naive but i was hoping "pass out" would cross over here somehow, esp. with the heidi and audrina ref

opeth winfrey (donna rouge), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:39 (fifteen years ago)

lol britain

tuomascratch beat (deej), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:40 (fifteen years ago)

Nice track, probably would have liked better as an instrumental though....

Moodles, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:40 (fifteen years ago)

Tinie Tempah = another one in lex's riot playlist

ilx countdown = soundtrack to the revolution fuiud

"roman's revenge" was played in parl sq too

i wouldn't entirely rule out a "pass out" US x-over, never underestimate how retarded major labels can be w/r/t territorial timelag

lextasy refix (lex pretend), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:40 (fifteen years ago)

want his glasses

normal_fantasy-unicorns (contenderizer), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:41 (fifteen years ago)

i think people stopped caring about heidi and the hills by 2010. if it had been released a year earlier it might have been bigger :/

prolego, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:41 (fifteen years ago)

princess nyah - pass out freestyle. "i'll make you pass out / you see the heels and the legs but no arse out" <3

lextasy refix (lex pretend), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:41 (fifteen years ago)

The fact that there are two Kanye records that are now going to place higher than Pass Out makes me sad.

Also here is Snoop and Tinie doing Pass Out to a packed field at Glastonbury and one of those moments that just wouldn't have happened in Britain three years before. It feels like unquestionably the most epochal British pop record of the last year.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:41 (fifteen years ago)

i think his record label is releasing "written in the stars" in the us first, which is a ridiculous decision

prolego, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:42 (fifteen years ago)

i know it's naive but i was hoping "pass out" would cross over here somehow, esp. with the heidi and audrina ref

i haven't watched mtv in a few weeks but last time i checked they were still spinning the music video in the wee hours of the morning

teledyldonix, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:42 (fifteen years ago)

ewww written in the stars suxx -____-

teledyldonix, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:42 (fifteen years ago)

I'm not that fussed out 'Pass Out' but I do like the line about having so many clothes I have to keep some in my aunt's house.

emil.y, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:42 (fifteen years ago)

i think his record label is releasing "written in the stars" in the us first, which is a ridiculous decision

:O

lextasy refix (lex pretend), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:43 (fifteen years ago)

(first time I've ever used 'fuiud' I think...)

lex nailed this shut but

other ones already appearing in the riot playlist:

rihanna ft. drake, "what's my name"
nicki minaj ft. eminem, "roman's revenge" (w/em redacted)(lol whiney)

last night a Drugs A. Money saved my life (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:43 (fifteen years ago)

Oh yeah, didn't save my tracks ballot but pretty sure I voted 'pass out'. Hope I was one of the 12 voters for Hold Yuh as well. One of my favorite songs this year too.

I just noticed due to them being ranked together that both 'runaway' and 'pass out' choruses have the common theme of bringing the glasses out and toasting.

Moka, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:44 (fifteen years ago)

USA! USA!

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:47 (fifteen years ago)

"pink & purple" is the best discovery of the thread so far. total lex bait, that

lyrikkal is also straight up a better rapper than wiz

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 19:47 (fifteen years ago)

alright lying this gyptian remix is pretty hot, can't believe i've never heard this
