i question the sense of humor of anyone that doesn't crack up @ the "smang it" video
― wee-based god (J0rdan S.), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:30 (fifteen years ago)
deej, I wouldn't expect you to like some borderline twee indie pop song that I think is great, and I know that going in, so I'd never bother asking you to explain yourself.

i dont generally opine on twee indie pop songs so there is no need to ask me to explain myself
― challopian youtubes (deej), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:30 (fifteen years ago)
plays like a MadTV sketch to me
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 January 2011 20:31 (fifteen years ago)
and on top of it the song is hilarious & catchy -- it's the "lazy sunday" of strip club songs
― wee-based god (J0rdan S.), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:31 (fifteen years ago)
does this mean tonetta gonna show up?
― normal_fantasy-unicorns (contenderizer), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:31 (fifteen years ago)
btw young humma & flynt flossy are opening up for big boi iirc
― challopian youtubes (deej), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:32 (fifteen years ago)
Get back to me when one of 'em shows up in the countdown and you bemoan it. (I can't remember what's ahead and I'm not going to look, but if one's there I don't expect you to be quiet about it.)
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 January 2011 20:32 (fifteen years ago)
"crack up" is def. the response elicited from me -- but in a smh.gif way, not good
― the new mordant & zingy ilxor persona (ilxor), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:32 (fifteen years ago)
it is much better than lazy sunday
― teledyldonix, Monday, 24 January 2011 20:33 (fifteen years ago)
yes, it is also much better than "lazy sunday"
― wee-based god (J0rdan S.), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:33 (fifteen years ago)
well, hard to defend myself from charges of something im going to do in the future, johnny precog
― challopian youtubes (deej), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:34 (fifteen years ago)
fwiw, I think Lazy Sunday is pretty dumb too

I'm going to be very sad when Die Antwoord when places higher than "Smang"

WTF dude. You're the one who pressed the issue.

I should say that I refrained from casting a ballot this year specifically with the hopes of keeping Die Antwoord off these lists...
― This just in: Drugs A. Money still crzay (Drugs A. Money), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:46 (fifteen years ago)
I guess I just don't get into jokey music in general, as I find Die Antwoord pretty insufferable as well. Jokey is different from novelty imo.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 January 2011 20:46 (fifteen years ago)
I thought $o$ wz a pretty decent album considering the thin premise...
― This just in: Drugs A. Money still crzay (Drugs A. Money), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:48 (fifteen years ago)
I mean if it wz just Enter the Ninja, then yeah fuck off, but I liked Beat Boy, Wat Pomp, Wat Kyk Jy, I Don't Need You, the fishpaste jar song...
― This just in: Drugs A. Money still crzay (Drugs A. Money), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:51 (fifteen years ago)
I've only heard Enter the Ninja, but I honestly don't feel compelled to explore further...even if it's supposed to be better than that.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 January 2011 20:52 (fifteen years ago)
idk better, I just prefered those songs...
it's cool you don't like it, bro; there's lots not to like about it. I saw it on an ILX thread, pasted it on a couple of my friends' webpages. They thought it was cool, we checked out a few other songs, and I heard the entire album on the group's website, and thought it was pretty solid...
― This just in: Drugs A. Money still crzay (Drugs A. Money), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:56 (fifteen years ago)
Enter the Ninja is prolley 7th or 8th favorite song on the album...
― This just in: Drugs A. Money still crzay (Drugs A. Money), Monday, 24 January 2011 20:57 (fifteen years ago)
Oh yeah, I didn't get the impression you were evangelizing for it. They're just one of those groups I made up my mind about early on and will likely never change it (unless, maybe, they record a song with Robert Smith like Crystal Castles did lol)
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 January 2011 20:58 (fifteen years ago)
right on :)

I was kind of shocked, but "Fish Paste" is kind of great
don't want to hear anything else of their tho

starting to realize between Cassie and The-Dream that my idea of R&B as a genre built to showcase great vocal performances doesn't square with this board's love of chirping little munchkins
― trv kvnt (some dude), Monday, January 24, 2011 10:39 AM Bookmark
Not that I give a shit about Cassie, but I would like to point out that you also hate R. Kelly's awesome "When a Woman Loves" where he is all fucking singing like a Greek God.
― knits you a baby (The Reverend), Monday, 24 January 2011 21:06 (fifteen years ago)
don't get the love. liked "enter the ninja" well enough at first, but the album is horrid, as is that "fish paste" song is the worst. i literally cannot stand to be hearing it.

p sure ETN was not even nominated. I nommed 'beat boy' (which was imo their best track BY MILES & yeah, the album as a whole was sorta dud)
― beer, beer, beer (Pillbox), Monday, 24 January 2011 21:17 (fifteen years ago)
so far, I am totally digging how all-over-the-map the results are!

I have yet to hear anything I really dislike...least favorite song is prolley the Cut Copy one, though I was out of the room when it supposedly got brilliant, so maybe I just need to relisten...?

was just listening to beat boy and yeah, it's better than i remembered, better maybe than ETN
― normal_fantasy-unicorns (contenderizer), Monday, 24 January 2011 21:22 (fifteen years ago)
There's little need to personally insult because we don't like a particular song. I'm happy that you enjoy it.

re: Die Antwoord, I liked the vaguely rave-y feel of "Beat Boy" (yeah the best), & "I Don't Need You" and "Very Fancy" & mostly love Yolandi Visser's brattiness on "Wat Kyk Jy" and "$copie". Fish Paste i thought was funny, esp the Mariah Carey bit. As I said before, the premise is pretty thin...

love this fives song
― fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Monday, 24 January 2011 21:35 (fifteen years ago)
if i voted my ballot would have been:
1. Yung Humma - Let Me Smang It2. The Dream - Yamaha
and then a bunch of other tracks
― gr8080, Monday, 24 January 2011 22:32 (fifteen years ago)
Seeing The Fives actually place and seeing people check it out for the first time is making me kind of emotional.
