jeez, i'd say it applies way more to that games track. it's all blurred and half erased, in the style, but would otherwise slot in fine on 80s MTV, between lucky star and smalltown boy or something

Depends on the language for me. I listen to a ton of Swedish and French music that I don't understand at all, and some Espanol stuff in lesser numbers. If the songs are good, though, I don't care if I can't properly sing along.

I am still baffled by 'Lemme Smang It' but I'm sure it will grow on me eventually. About to check out the stuff I haven't heard.

I think maybe I put Taylor Swift's "Mean" as my #1? can't remember, dashed off a ballot on the run last week. I thought at first that "Mean" would be a country smash since on the album it's the most trad country-ish song but I wonder if its triumphant foreshadowing of big city life is gonna fly with country radio programmers.

more because people prefer to define chillwave by the nebulous 80s aesthetic rather than specific sounds or musical aspects tho i think. also it depends on the track (but never gonna win that argument).

I'm so often put off by what passes for lyricism that I sometimes find it easier to like foreign-language pop than English pop, as I don't have to cringe my way through. Not always true, but often enough.

wouldn't be too fazed if 'Everything Is Working' was some old Casino vs Japan track tho tbh (but maybe they're a reasonable foreteller of chillwave as a thing in some ways)

Azari is the only one I voted so far, but Diddy-Dirty Money/Kelis/Four Tet are all standouts from albums I voted for. Fives is my best new discovery.

I wish I'd heard "Lemme Smang It" before the poll results, I would've voted for it. I love these kind of novelty songs that are also good tunes.

and on top of it the song is hilarious & catchy -- it's the "lazy sunday" of strip club songs
