Ringer EP and There is Love in You are the only Four Tet releases that have grabbed me - found the earlier stuff not so interesting.

love cry is pretty cool, v spacious mix, groovy space sounds, building 2 a monstrous climax (I hope)

aw Matt, u harsh - I use genre terms v personally and tbh most radio music tends towards this glossy electronic euphoria which I can get v lazy with in turn

I do like this, but it doesn't knock my socks off or anything. Not sure it'll get me back into Four Tet in any meaningful sense.

yeah LJ is approaching Hongro territory where i see him as kind of a static, unchanging but minor irritant in music threads but i get way more annoyed with people who obsess over responding to him.

Four Tet - liked the last four minutes or so. Found the first five pretty tedious though. It is safe to say this is not my thing.

LJ is not that Hongro-ish--he may not always be "hip" to what has caught the ILX zeitgeist, but he doesn't offer up rigid framework to what constitutes "good music" with every post. He's just a little challopsy.

Never heard of Javiera Mena! Very nice - it's a little too slickly finished for what would normally be my taste, but that seems to be kind of the point.

"love cry" is a lot better than i remembered it being!! love when the main beat finally drops.

javiera mena is another that i heard once, for the jukebox, and didn't thinka great deal of. i guess i should go back to it too.

not crazy about the mena album tho i like it fine. (i'm pretty much allergic to jens lekman in any context)

I didn't hear "Love Cry" until I got the album so had no hesitation putting it at #3 on my ballot this year. It's so brilliantly paced, the way it introduces new ideas gradually - kinda like a Lindstrom track in that regard.

Also voted for "Skydiver" (my #7). I love the refrain, the way the synth/vocal phrases move against the beat. Those who say the song is weak should listen again.

If more than 2 other things on my short tracks ballot make it, I'll be very surprised. But v. happy about these two.
