kind of admire the knife w/o loving it or wanting to listen to it - not down with people dismissing it as self-indulgent or pretentious or whatever though (not down with either of those dismissals anywhere tbh)

yesssss for "ass on the floor" & "mean" so far. i love when you vote for songs that just scrape into the chart.

this year's knife album is fabulous, but definitely a mood piece a la scott walker's the drift (or similarly harsh '00s record w/o an easy entrance point) and pretty much the definition of "for fans only"

i wanted to like 'skydiver' but it never really did it for me

haha it wouldn't be an ilx poll without a lost cassie track! i neither voted for this nor think it's particularly special, but i'm heartened to see it place. my favourite lost cassie track of 2010 was "fuck u silly" with nicki minaj, which ends with nicki riding cassie ("giddy up, giddy up! now wake diddy up, diddy up, diddy up!")

Not heard the Knife track before, really like the intro and the operatic bit, not so moved by the main song in between or the extended instrumental at the end.

I voted the Knife album very high in my albums list, no singles though - good choice

for those that are interested, "skydiver" was written by the dude that wrote "shades" off the dirty money album
