tuomas, i cant think what it could be. is the wirting in caps or lower case? could it be something like "ÀÐÐÎÖ"?

i cant think of any letters in russian that look like an "R", there is a "ß" but thats backwards.

ambrose (ambrose), Monday, 21 November 2005 13:28 (eighteen years ago) link

Ada's 'And More' also

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Monday, 21 November 2005 13:28 (eighteen years ago) link

Ambrose, the name is in caps, and yeah, maybe the "R"s are backwards. I'll check it when I get home.

i wish that i could kiss sadly to this music. but no one i know finds it beautiful, sad or anything really. well, no girls. not one girl anyway.

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 22 November 2005 14:29 (eighteen years ago) link

Poor Ambrose!

You'll have to think of her while you listen tearfully...

Anyway wanted to add:

Light In Darkness - YMO
Computerlove - Kraftwerk
Desire - 69
Electric Bedroom - Alter Ego
These Days - Petter

There was also a track on Movin' Melodies from 1995 that from memory had a very sad anthemic melody over a kind of HiNRG rhythm but I don't know its name...

Telegram Sam, Wednesday, 23 November 2005 02:51 (eighteen years ago) link

more 69- Microlovr. basically Carl Craig is the king of this.

I liked most of the Kiasmos album ok, but when things pick up near the end it gets rather messy and unnecesary loud imo, that was a bit of a let down. It's nice, but nowhere near as good as Lawrence or Pantha du Prince.

Agree Kiasmos gets a bit too loud too soon - I actually like the later tracks a lot, I would just have preferred the more relaxed atmosphere to last a little longer #chilloutroom4lyfe

Tried some Lawrence but it just doesn't emotionally engage me at all.

ledge, Friday, 5 December 2014 11:12 (nine years ago) link

I can only think that you are listening to the wrong Lawrence ...

djh, Friday, 5 December 2014 18:32 (nine years ago) link

I started to dive into Lawrence but grooveshark locked up and broke my browser so I'll queue it up again. I was really enjoying it (maybe one track before it quit)!!

Evan, Friday, 5 December 2014 18:37 (nine years ago) link

i checked out a bunch on youtube and felt the same as ledge, it's really nice but felt a little too slick or hotel lounge-y for me.

i just have a real weird relationship with four-on-the-floor dance music, i don't listen to much of it. lush & pretty is good, but the stuff that really clicks tends to feel 'raw' and tactile in some way.

festival culture (Jordan), Friday, 5 December 2014 18:56 (nine years ago) link

Lawrence is so good in the winter.

brotherlovesdub, Friday, 5 December 2014 19:07 (nine years ago) link

maybe it's the house basslines that undercut the staring-off-into-the-distance vibes for me

it sounds very melancholy to me in a wistful, pensive, James Stinson interstate truck driving at night kind of way but whatever I’m heavily depressed so

missingNO, Tuesday, 21 September 2021 05:16 (two years ago) link

maybe not so soft but i hear the melancholy in it for sure. the synth lead does fade in and out like street lamps floating by on a highway

how about this one, "Niji" by Denki Groove

very Orbital-esque, almost like a direct sequel to "Halycon". it's one of their most popular tracks though amusingly enough they never did anything like it again
