I'm kinda sad that I only got the standard version now.

mavisbeacon666 (San Te), Sunday, 9 January 2011 14:22 (fifteen years ago)

yeah dude deluxe is essential

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Sunday, 9 January 2011 14:29 (fifteen years ago)

i'll just d/l the extras

mavisbeacon666 (San Te), Sunday, 9 January 2011 14:32 (fifteen years ago)

it's just "last night pt 2" and "change" but they're both excellent songs (i know i'm in the minority on "change") and work really well with the flow of the album, the latter especially

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Sunday, 9 January 2011 14:34 (fifteen years ago)

everytime I see "Last Night Part 2" i keep thinking Diddy made a sequel to the Az Yet song

mavisbeacon666 (San Te), Sunday, 9 January 2011 14:51 (fifteen years ago)

if you d/l the extras you should change the track order too

dayo, Sunday, 9 January 2011 14:55 (fifteen years ago)

otm

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Sunday, 9 January 2011 14:56 (fifteen years ago)

so how is the deluxe 17 extra minutes if there's only two extra tracks adding up to 7 minutes? methinks wikipedia track length=wrooooooooooooooong

mavisbeacon666 (San Te), Sunday, 9 January 2011 14:58 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i think wikipedia has adding issues

"loving you no more" is the final track on the standard edition? seriously pity anyone who has that but not the real deal deluxe

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Sunday, 9 January 2011 15:08 (fifteen years ago)

there are 2 tracks added to the main sequence, plus 2 more bonus tracks ("First Place Loser" and "Love Come Down")

some dude, Sunday, 9 January 2011 15:35 (fifteen years ago)

btw what do you guys think the worst track is? for me it's either "Looking For Love" or "Strobe Lights"

some dude, Sunday, 9 January 2011 15:35 (fifteen years ago)

i've been trying to bait people into having this discussion for a min now actually

for me it's any of the 3 songs with wayne or drake, though "strobe lights" is redeemed by its final minute, which i love. "your love" does nothing for me, either

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Sunday, 9 January 2011 15:46 (fifteen years ago)

i always think i'm not into "Your Love" when it starts and by the end i'm like holy shit this is amazing

some dude, Sunday, 9 January 2011 15:56 (fifteen years ago)

imo "Loving You No More" is so good that not even Drake can ruin it

some dude, Sunday, 9 January 2011 15:57 (fifteen years ago)

"your love" improves as it goes on and is not awful strictly speaking but i really hate that beat, got to be the weakest on the album

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Sunday, 9 January 2011 16:00 (fifteen years ago)

"your love" is really strong imo, i love the tension of the beat - reminds me of omarion's "i get it in" and the dirty money girls slay on it.

IMMA PUT IT IN YOUR FACE BOY AS SOON AS YOU WAKE UP
I KNOW YOU WANNA HIT IT, WANT ME TO BE YOUR LITTLE SLUT

worst track is "yesterday" fairly easily. i have the standard edition track listing and the bonus trax as free-floating mp3s and am happy with that, the album isn't actually out in the UK yet.

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Sunday, 9 January 2011 16:10 (fifteen years ago)

it's missing about half the bass from "i get it in"

the opening & underlying plink-plunk percussion just puts me off, such a out-of-place played sound on an album like this

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Sunday, 9 January 2011 16:35 (fifteen years ago)

reminds me of "turnin me on" more than anything and i never really liked that song all that much so

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Sunday, 9 January 2011 16:41 (fifteen years ago)

i love "turnin' me on"!!!!!!!

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Sunday, 9 January 2011 16:45 (fifteen years ago)

coming home reminds me of empire state of mind only worse. yea yesterday is also p bad

johnny crunch, Sunday, 9 January 2011 16:58 (fifteen years ago)

ha i know you do, and so does ship

"coming home" is kinda saccharine like that johnny, yeah, but diddy's rapps are ok, even dare i say touching, so it gets pass from me

don't get the hate for "yesterday" unless yall are just kneejerk breezy hating

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Sunday, 9 January 2011 17:01 (fifteen years ago)

btw what do you guys think the worst track is? for me it's either "Looking For Love" or "Strobe Lights"

― some dude, Sunday, January 9, 2011 9:35 AM (3 hours ago) Bookmark

"strobe lights," yes -- i love lil the vocoder part at the end of "your love" -- kinda wishing they had integrated that more into the song

i'm not a huge fan of "love come down"

J0rdan S., Sunday, 9 January 2011 19:09 (fifteen years ago)

well that's a bonus track on the deluxe version that's not even an option in this poll.

original "Angels" single version would easily be my least favorite song out of this project, but the synths on the remix redeem it somewhat.

some dude, Sunday, 9 January 2011 19:39 (fifteen years ago)

i love "love come down" and am actually disappointed it's not on the main album - hate the recent trend for artists/labels to disown underperforming lead singles

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Sunday, 9 January 2011 22:21 (fifteen years ago)

^^^ Was just thinking that yesterday. It really encapsulates that air of lack of self-confidence about pop music these days, like, "oh we thought this was good but if the public doesn't take to it we're gonna assume the crappy track we'd red-marked "album at best, outtake possibly" is better".

Tim F, Sunday, 9 January 2011 22:34 (fifteen years ago)

"massive attack" vs. "your love" GRRRRRRRRRR

i mean ultimately it's also the fault of all the appalling people without taste who actually made "your love" a success instead

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Sunday, 9 January 2011 22:40 (fifteen years ago)

"Massive Attack" was the example I was thinking of actually, w/r/t a bounty post on Nicki (though not on "Massive Attack" itself). Especially given it was such a "statement" first single, and then it's not like they're entirely pretending that side of her doesn't exist.

Tim F, Sunday, 9 January 2011 22:43 (fifteen years ago)

i was wondering what you actually thought about nicki, don't think i've ever seen you post about her!

i voted for "massive attack" in my p&j which was a STATEMENT of sorts

given the amount of bonus trax you'd think they could've at least have dumped it on pink friday at the end

there was also ciara's "go girl" in the fantasy ride era, which underwhelmed me as a single but finally grew on me at around the time i learned it was being purged from history, stalin style

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Sunday, 9 January 2011 22:46 (fifteen years ago)

Haha with Nicki it gets actively 1984. We were always at war with Eurasia!

Tim F, Sunday, 9 January 2011 22:48 (fifteen years ago)

wtf @ all this 'strobe lights' hate itt

which version is this? the amazon deluxe one I got didn't have either of these tracks. looking now, the itunes deluxe has first place loser but not love come down.

smh @ amazon

dayo, Sunday, 9 January 2011 23:41 (fifteen years ago)

"strobe lights" is v.great

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Sunday, 9 January 2011 23:42 (fifteen years ago)

"I know" is the worst song imo

The Brainwasher, Sunday, 9 January 2011 23:43 (fifteen years ago)

yeah - I mentioned this in the other thread but the opening weezy verse is so ruthless xp

dayo, Sunday, 9 January 2011 23:52 (fifteen years ago)

nah it's got plenty of ruth

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Monday, 10 January 2011 00:53 (fifteen years ago)

weezy parts are just ugh and the beat sounds like a less catchy version of "the way i are"

some dude, Monday, 10 January 2011 01:05 (fifteen years ago)

The physical deluxe version does not have either "First Place Loser" or "Love Come Down".

one pretty obvious guy in the obvious (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 10 January 2011 03:22 (fifteen years ago)

But yeah basically hating iTunes right now for making "First Place Loser" Album Only. Fuckers.

one pretty obvious guy in the obvious (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 10 January 2011 03:25 (fifteen years ago)

"Strobe Lights" was the exact moment of my first play that I freaked the fuck out about how good this is. Worst song is "Loving You No More".

flutes & fucking mexican death horns (The Reverend), Monday, 10 January 2011 04:03 (fifteen years ago)

Apparently J. Cole wrote "Coming Home"?

flutes & fucking mexican death horns (The Reverend), Monday, 10 January 2011 04:03 (fifteen years ago)

jcole would make a great ghostwriter

ich bin ein ilxor (deej), Monday, 10 January 2011 04:12 (fifteen years ago)

wrote the rapps?

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Monday, 10 January 2011 04:18 (fifteen years ago)

i've said this before but i wish drake would cease all rap music & just do r&b for himself/other ppl

J0rdan S., Monday, 10 January 2011 04:20 (fifteen years ago)

i've said this before: NO

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Monday, 10 January 2011 08:43 (fifteen years ago)

"first place loser" is kind of really, really great

dayo, Monday, 10 January 2011 15:16 (fifteen years ago)

the intertwining melodies on the chorus, the call and response, the layered vocals, if the diverging melodies on 'ass on the floor' was a heroin this is a fucking speedball

dayo, Monday, 10 January 2011 15:47 (fifteen years ago)

those synth...woodwinds! fuck it, idk!

dayo, Monday, 10 January 2011 15:50 (fifteen years ago)

I'm gonna make a deluxe deluxe edition of this poll, you watch me

dayo, Monday, 10 January 2011 15:50 (fifteen years ago)

wrote the rapps?
