my fav roach gigz off that tape is 'gold' -- so i love the amelodic spindly beats too but it makes 'gold' seem that much better when it comes in

consistent's the wrong word, they're just topical where respect it & goomba are more train-of-thought type ish

going back to roachy balboa now and it's way more exciting than i remember - these beats are kind of nuts and he's just rampant on them

(those are xps to my other post -- the tape itself is super consistent)

I think the thing I am most furious about right now is that I've only checked out two things on this list and I've loved them both, completely throwing into disarray my baseline assumption that I hate modern hip-hop.

its a story track that goes all over the place & doesnt like have a 'point'
theres nothing necessarily wrong w/ that -- its just that the more focused ones grew to become my faovrite

should be higher imo, maybe too trad for a lot of tastes?

love individual tracks on this a lot, have a lot of trouble listening to more than a few in a row personally, but its all pretty good

excited that this means french montana must be top ten

yes "pop Off" is pretty great

I think there's a certain momentum level in modern rap needs to attain otherwise it's like kryptonite to me; possibly I can blame my "faster FASTER" rave/jungle/dnb years on this since a lot of these tracks reappropriate a lot of the same sonic palette so I expect way more aggressive energy and a faster tempo in the beats than I'm going to get.
