Lil B Signs to Amalgam Digital
December 31, 2010 | 12:23pm |Full Size Image
Internet favorite, Lil B the Based God, has inked a deal with independent label Amalgam Digital. The digital only label announced the partnership earlier this week, while also revealing plans to drop two discs from The Pack rapper in the coming months.
The first disc, Angels Exodus, a prelude to his debut solo disc, Glass Face, will drop on January 18. Amalgam will handle marketing and worldwide distribution of both LPs.
"Shout outs to Amalgam Digital, they been ahead of this for a while," B said in a statement. "We are putting out these two albums called Angels Exodus and then Glass Face. It's going to be historical works of art with these albums. On Angels Exodus it's going to be real hip-hop and sticking to the script. I'll be going far outside of the boundaries and staying far away from the script too. The Glass Face album will live up to it's name. These albums are something everyone will understand. They are the reason why I'm 10' tall and everyone else is just 6'7''...no diss. You know I love everybody." --Elan Mancini

I wonder if he just couldn't get a proper deal or if this is in some way a smarter financial move based on the way he releases his music and tours and all that. Obviously majors were trying to sign him
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Sunday, 2 January 2011 02:39 (fifteen years ago)
what do majors really offer artists other than access to distribution? shitty 360 deals?
― lyrics is weak ... like clock radio similes (deej), Sunday, 2 January 2011 02:49 (fifteen years ago)
I have absolutely no idea.

"I wasn't even cooking full course meals in this video. [Laughs.] People got some nerve saying I wasn't cooking hard on here. I was smiling. I'm letting people know you can break the cooking rules. Rules are made to be broken. People need to create their own moves and add them to the cooking. I've seen people add new swags to the cooking. Cooking, just moving one arm and just straight swaggin' and not even moving the body. Just one arm. Going crazy. [Laughs.] I was like, 'Word? This is next level.'
