this is incalculably better than MBDTF - may well make my year-end ballot

acoleuthic, Sunday, 26 December 2010 01:39 (fifteen years ago)

to whom are you submitting your ballot?

Stay J0rdan Fresh (sic), Sunday, 26 December 2010 06:44 (fifteen years ago)

to ILX

acoleuthic, Sunday, 26 December 2010 06:45 (fifteen years ago)

i never feel like relistening to this

call all destroyer, Sunday, 26 December 2010 16:18 (fifteen years ago)

lol i guess i already said that. oh well, i still don't quite get why it's disappointing, but it is.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 26 December 2010 16:29 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i got the same feeling but i kinda feel like i was being unfair so i'll give it another shot eventually

k3vin k., Sunday, 26 December 2010 17:31 (fifteen years ago)

and now we hate this

kenny noggins (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 26 December 2010 17:46 (fifteen years ago)

it's too likable to hate, and i had a good time with it for a while, but i don't really feel like relistening to it and i'm not entirely sure why either. there's nothing that leaps out as an obvious negative.

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Sunday, 26 December 2010 17:47 (fifteen years ago)

this is still my fave hip-hop album of the year. i enjoy it a whole lot more than the kanye album.

Mordy, Sunday, 26 December 2010 17:49 (fifteen years ago)

^yep

kenny noggins (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 26 December 2010 17:50 (fifteen years ago)

this is better than any outkast album and in fact better than any album ever released except fo my beautiful dark twisted fantasy and the new diddy

ice cr?m, Sunday, 26 December 2010 17:53 (fifteen years ago)

feel like it's an album where it's really easy to just pick your fav 2 or 3 songs and move on. there's an incoherence that sticks with me--like you gain nothing from listening to it straight through, in order. which is fine, but kind of makes it something other than a "great album."

call all destroyer, Sunday, 26 December 2010 18:05 (fifteen years ago)

bingo

lyrics is weak ... like clock radio similes (deej), Sunday, 26 December 2010 20:31 (fifteen years ago)

good album and hard to fault but it just doesnt have any... substance? not substance as in 'important messages' but theres just not much meat to it that make me want to return to it. has about 4 songs i rate though. dre3000 and big boi = lennon and mccartney of rap. both decent without each other but they really need the other ones input to make their individual stuff more 'whole'.

titchy (titchyschneiderMk2), Sunday, 26 December 2010 20:32 (fifteen years ago)

eh i think its got some individually great songs it just isnt a record i want to come back to a lot
maybe if the songs the label cut were included

lyrics is weak ... like clock radio similes (deej), Sunday, 26 December 2010 20:38 (fifteen years ago)

i can't even

kenny noggins (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 26 December 2010 20:45 (fifteen years ago)

i never feel like relistening to this

me, either, but i'm less of a rap-fan than some/most of you, so . . .

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 26 December 2010 20:46 (fifteen years ago)

whiney it's not like this was a hands-down goon consensus album or anything before this thread was bumped

k3vin k., Sunday, 26 December 2010 21:28 (fifteen years ago)

eh i think its got some individually great songs it just isnt a record i want to come back to a lot

yeah this is prob what i feel about it...i can't really fault what's there per se, but all the singles that i loved before the album were somehow made a bit worse in album context.

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Sunday, 26 December 2010 22:22 (fifteen years ago)

it's still a v likable thing though - i don't get annoyed when i see it crop up like i do w/kanye or [insert everyone else who keeps cropping up here]

lex diamonds (lex pretend), Sunday, 26 December 2010 22:23 (fifteen years ago)

probably listened to this album more than any other album this year

it Terribel !!! (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 26 December 2010 23:56 (fifteen years ago)

still fucking love this album

then again, I would

Indolence Mission (DJP), Monday, 27 December 2010 01:37 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah it's a great album, and I mean that in "it's fun and it's a blast to listen to" way rather than some lame Q magazine This Is Greatness way. It's a bit patchy but so are Stankonia and Aquemini. If you stripped it down to its best 10 tracks it'd be difficult to fault.

Matt DC, Monday, 27 December 2010 01:54 (fifteen years ago)

Eh, I love this: every song, even the blah ones, pricks my ear in some way. My #3 record of the year.

Gus Van Sotosyn (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 27 December 2010 02:14 (fifteen years ago)

my #2. high-five?

I'm new on ILX, and figure my first post should be to chime in and say this is my #2 album of 2010. Although I probably listened to it more than anything else this year...

Not really sure how to do this quoting stuff. I'll give it a shot:

Band of Horses, "Infinite Arms." Boring, I know, but I love the songs and the performances. And there might be just a tiny sliver of sappy sentimentalism in that pick, too. Spent a lot of time singing those songs to my new (and first) baby this summer. This goes against everything I feel in my cold, hard, calculated critic's heart, but hey ... what can I do?

I *do* love the songs, though.

alpine static, Monday, 27 December 2010 17:45 (fifteen years ago)

Well, there you go. Messed up the quoting / block quotes. Sorry, all.

can't believe the new poster named his child "infinite arms," after an album

call all destroyer, Monday, 27 December 2010 18:53 (fifteen years ago)

it's still a better name than Pilot Inspektor

Indolence Mission (DJP), Monday, 27 December 2010 19:04 (fifteen years ago)

but not Chico Dusty, that's a great name

it Terribel !!! (forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 December 2010 19:05 (fifteen years ago)

Didn't Pete Wentz name his kid Mowgli?

Chico Dusty is a badass name

Square-Panted Sponge Robert (VegemiteGrrrl), Monday, 27 December 2010 19:06 (fifteen years ago)
