Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Oohh, also: Rex's Night Of Shame!

http://www.rexthedog.net/kompakt_dinner.htm

"For the second time I fell asleep before [Michael Mayer] started to play. We are nearly expecting to be expelled from KOMPAKT. With the music we make we skate on difficult ice anyway. "

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha that's great. It also has the added benefit of making me feel better about not going to Fabric that night. There was no way I would have stayed up to see Mr Mayer's set either, what with having a cold and that.

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

that is so fucking funny

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 21 December 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 04:20 (twenty-one years ago)

the michael mayer cartoon on the night of shame thing cracked me up...it -does- look like him

Do you have it on good authority?
-- Michael F Gill (rain19...), December 22nd, 2004

he has it on the authority of his heart, which is all that matters.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 22 December 2004 04:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I heard it from the XFM DJ eddie temple morris.

yeah, but think about it.

they wouldnt let a guy with 2 small releases and a knife remix under his belt do a Depeche Mode remix and a prodigy ( on their make or break release) remix if it was some nobody.

so its got to be a well known ( in the industry ) person.

or at least a studio enginner that people know well..

and check out the rob da bank quote earlier.

but hey whadda I know

or maybe not, german was never my thing...

eek!

rover, Friday, 28 January 2005 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

How can read it left in the comments, the secret seems to be ventilated: Allegedly puts Daniel Miller, Chef of, behind the alias "Rex The Dog", which clears mode and The Prodigy at present as Remixer for Depeche and with original TRACKS on compact powerfully. If that is actually correct, at the high age again powerfully the fires unterm ass got anyhow; -))

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 28 January 2005 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Rex The Dog playing a live set in Brighton on Saturday 17th of September at UNION (the re-launched Zap). Any ILMers care to join me?

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 10:19 (twenty years ago)

Did we discover who he is yet?

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 11:10 (twenty years ago)

Someone on this thread is right.
It's not Daniel Miller either. His music (what he actually releases) doesn't sound like Rex anyway.
I thought EVERYONE knew now!
He should still make some more records though - good ones like "I Look Into Mid Air"...

Debord (Debord), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 11:27 (twenty years ago)

it's jake williams so stop asking!

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 11:35 (twenty years ago)

can a moderator change the title of this thread to "WHO CARES ABOUT REX THE DOG (ideas, NOBODY, ANYMORE)"

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 11:35 (twenty years ago)

'E-Talking' is currently his best remix. That's all.

BARMS, Tuesday, 26 July 2005 11:47 (twenty years ago)

or just change the title to JAKE WILLIAMS IS REX THE DOG.

why don't you care anymore, Ronan? is he passé?

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 11:52 (twenty years ago)

ronan otm. rex the who (cares)?

of course he's passe jed. do keep up.*

stirmonster (stirmonster), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 11:56 (twenty years ago)

REX THE DOG is...

THE AMAZING RANDY

Tumililingan (ex machina), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 12:08 (twenty years ago)

"'E-Talking' is currently his best remix. That's all."

I don't think it beats the Heartbeats mix overall but that had a better song to work with. The E-Talking mix feels like every Rex teh Dog production to date playing simultaneously!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 12:09 (twenty years ago)

if one of the criteria for something to be deemed passé is simply "hasn't released a record since this thread was started" then Rex The Dog is passé, yes!

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 12:30 (twenty years ago)

The vocal version of his Depeche Mode remix (Photographic) is amazingly close to the original, in a good way.

mike h. (mike h.), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 12:57 (twenty years ago)

Oh yeah that one's amazing! Sorry I think that might beat E-Talking.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 13:00 (twenty years ago)

oooh, stop sounding like craig from big brother everyone, i was just wondering who rex was and couldn't be fussed reading through the whole thread. my fave rex moment is either the prodigy reworking or that minimix he did with the mel & kim track. and heartbeats too, obv.

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 13:38 (twenty years ago)

Haha, Craig pwnage.

BTW, don't think I'll make Friday unless you plan on paying half the (large) train fare it'd take. :-(

BARMS, Tuesday, 26 July 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

Sh, take it to the other offishal thread (which I'll start up later), but you r 1 0ne b1g LOSER for not comin down! Nah it's ok, just come down to one later in the year, blag the Stevem and them to come too. (hopefully your old hallsmate G Ryan will be regularing it up by then too)

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 14:39 (twenty years ago)

four months pass...
The world needs more Rex the Dog music in 2006. I went to Rex's first Dutch performance here in Amsterdam last Friday, sort of a laptop DJ set. No "Mid Air" but a great track that is probably his remix of "I Don't Care" by Phil Fuldner Presents Superfaktor because it wasn't the original version. Immense record! Also: silly man in shark suit dancing behind Rex the Dog, good idea.

JoB (JoB), Sunday, 11 December 2005 00:47 (twenty years ago)

The set started with "Showing Out", by the way, and ended with "Respectable". A SAW/Rex the Dog remix project should be commenced forthwith!

JoB (JoB), Sunday, 11 December 2005 00:51 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I don't think it would be Moby, not because he's not good enough but because his production style when he is good is v. different.
(Tim Finney)

Here's a tune released by Moby in '94 that Tim has yet to hear I suppose :

Mike Jones, obv.

Will trade new Röyksopp remix for new Knife remix, thanx.

JoB (JoB), Thursday, 23 March 2006 15:55 (twenty years ago)

NEW KNIFE REMIX ?!!!

Paul (scifisoul), Thursday, 23 March 2006 18:57 (twenty years ago)

He's doing "Marble House." I don't think it's out yet, though?

Telephonething (Telephonething), Friday, 24 March 2006 02:32 (twenty years ago)

March 10th 2006

Woo, eee! Just putting the finishing touches to our remix of 'Marblehouse' by The Knife. The new album by The Knife 'Silent Shout' is another triumph of synthesizer, melody and words. The Knife are the leaders and if you get one album this year, this is it. (Until we release ours, then you could please get that instead...)
