re kevin drumm his album w/ daniel menche (mego 88) has been my soundtrack to the uk election aftermath

not mego but menche has a tape out on tapeworm called 'raw fall' that i think youd really vibe - mostly unprocessed field recordings of waterfalls & its powerful and mesmerizing. he also has a related lp out called 'kataract' thats on editions mego thats more processed and 'constructed' but i think 'raw fall' is superior

That track "Viennese Tragedy" is so-called because it was recorded live at this swanky jazz club in Vienna where Fenn O'Berg were booked for some reason. About 10 people showed up.

ha I just bumped that Tapeworm thread before reading this one. yeah that menche tape is deep. never heard the second Fenno'berg but I like the first one a lot -- it's next on my list

another great Mego thing this year is the Hecker 12" he did for a Comme des Garcon show. really sick rhythmic noise loops, kinda a cross between early Boyd Rice and Profan Records, w/ a spacious digital static piece on the flip

love a lot of the editions mego stuff i've heard over the last few years. would love to have a copy of the new dome box set.

but if i read the euro conversion properly the dome box would cost a yank $166 + shipping? not gonna happen.

listening to the new mark mcguire record ('get lost') on editions mego. it's a little too mellow and new-agey for me to be honest. it might make good yoga music, though.

well, i'll rep for some o those "rehberg & bauer"s, which still hold up - i actually LIKE them, but everything in his own name seems to me devoid of ingenuity & sub-bruce gilbert "my first zoom sampletrack" exercises (although i might hazard a guess they're max/msp supercollider or what have you) obvious systems & methods, & not at all transportative, revelatory or moving (even in a cold, paranoid machine type of way). it's only my take. don't matter any.

Already mentioned this on some noise thread but the new Peterlicker album is excellent. This was Rehberg's first group after he moved to Vienna (he was 21) and they have now reformed

In addition to being handsome and French, Schaeffer (as I understand it) helped pioneer the highly exact science of making bumping, clubby jams out of steam engine samples. In other words, the Oneohtrix Point Never dude probably likes him a lot, so you’re fucking nobody if you don’t too. The second record Recollection GRM has announced so far is by Guy Reibel, who, for all intents and purposes is the same guy as Pierre Schaeffer, except with a much much shorter Wikipedia page.

Oh man two more GRM releases! I really liked the Schaeffer, the Reibel a little less, but I think I'll be buying all of these indiscriminately.

Rehberg was very taken with the venue when he was there for the Chris'n'Cosey event last year. Think that's what spurred him on to set this up.

That's an amazing lineup.

it was ace. not packed but a decent turnout and the venue was really nice. the only gripe was a truncated performance from fennesz but he seemed to be having some technical problems (i.e. his stack of effects units kept falling over, lol). russell haswell and kevin drumm = the realest shit ever.

The Quicksails album is good, a special space between Black Dice and Emeralds, with crazy handclaps, Gamelan-style percussion.

Yeah I love that record! That, Unicorn Hard-On and Donato Dozzy Plays Bee Mask have all been great - super stuff from Spectrum Spools this year.
