mostly everyone i know that is SUPER into girl talk has terrible taste in music/fits into the category of whiney's tweet but oh well i enjoy the stuff

you know lex not everything one listens to has to be on the cutting edge of music in 2010

i always felt like the name 'feed the animals' was a direct reference to his shows, like if there are animals at his shows you should feed them

there was a duck, and a goose, and a cow at the show I went to, but nobody fed them

my impression of his shows is that its a lot of young kids who are kinda nerdy & dont party much who find this to be a more 'acceptable' way to appreciate 'teach me how to dougie' than how 'regular ppl' just listen to it & so they go to his shows to CUT LOOSE & PERFORM THE ACT OF FUN IN A SOCIAL SETTING in a way that makes me HRO-style cynical. like ... i just get a theater kid vibe from ppl who talk about how FUNNN he is

that said this is from stories other ppl have told me about going to his shows -- "Dude it was a bunch of 19 yr olds going apeshit for, like, elton john"

it wd lead me to suspect that some ppl need things mediated thru acceptable social channels. & why those channels are 'more acceptable' ... well i guess u could say that part of my motivation for writing abt music where i do is arguing that these channels are unneccessarily closed off from other channels, & that there are connections that can be made that treats things in the other contexts, that they shouldnt be limited to playing by certain rules

In the light of day, audiences at any club or dance-based gathering are pretty awful imo. The great thing is that doesn't matter a jot when you're out dancing.

yeah, this. this one is taking 4eva to download, but i was actually encouraged by whoever it was upthread that said the samples are "too long." there are parts of his other albums where whatever groove he's locked together with his samples seems good enough to sustain an entire track, but he's discarded it after 16 seconds.

anyway I'm digging this album, since it's in a similar style to feed the animals and whatever growing pains that album caused have been smoothed over by now.
