No thread on the Girl Talk album, surely some mistake

i mean, how can anyone not enjoy these four songs at the same time??

Listening now, this has some really good patches! I still miss the much higher sample density on Night Ripper, and he stays on the same thing too long for my taste, but the highs are high. Dude keeps pre-empting all of my samples though!

Yeah, he's holding onto samples too long (did this on his last album though iirc, save for the Big Country solo coz that should run forever). Still, some of it's really fun.

Also Night Ripper was enough at 41 minutes. Only about halfway through this one but 70 minutes seems too long.

Some of these samples are infuriatingly familiar...hopefully wikipedia will pick up the slack.

All the single ladies over Ante Up is incredible in this mix.

Personally I think this is a lot stronger than Night Ripper was.

It took a couple of tries before it worked for me, you just have to leave it running until the DL window pops up.

Listened to about 3/4 of this and was actually surprised by how much of it I didn't recognize, particularly the music. But I was listening in my car on the highway, which makes the music harder to hear. So far "Pretty Boy Swag" over "Windowlicker" is my favorite part.

i cant imagine the dude makes too much on record sales, especially since anyone who really cares about his shit is gonna grab the free version today

also it's much harder for him to get sued if he's putting this stuff out for free and touring hard where he's doing what thousands of other people do every night

assume this question is sarcastic as i can imagine little worse

by which i mean that the "make all your money touring!!" thing actually makes sense for him as legal protection

i've seen him live. it was a blast.

he probably doesn't make much on record sales, but still his prior albums are available on emusic.

the instrumentals he's picking here are really good -- a lot of funkier shit and/or stuff that works as beats & a lot less "alt rock" + "rap" or just laid out instrumentals -- seems like he's thinking more about what instrumentals would sound good as samples as opposed to a kitschiness factor -- the bananarama & inxs bits work really well

Honestly not trying to pick on Whiney while he isn't here, but lol at him on Twitter bringing up the same old Girl Talk argument about how corny indie folks would never be caught dead listening to Trick Daddy otherwise.

80s pop song + rap verse = works a lot of the time
everything else = terrible failure

we got him to play our uni after night ripper came out, it was one of the best shows I've ever seen...at my uni

he was a pretty decent interview -- when i asked him what new shit he was digging i remember him bringing up that killer mike/trina track on here

girl talk was fun altho i find his music a little hard to dance to tbh

"wake up" was really ripe for this & it sounds great
