so far i have rolling papes, blackenedwhite, earl, bastard, and radical. all but radical are on repeat. If there's another classic in here, I'd love to hear it, but I've gotten four great albums in the last few weeks and i'm not looking for some half-assed shit.

is it really worth downloading

this question is some apex of laziness, I'm trying to figure out if it's worse than me watching netflix streams of movies I own on DVD because I can't be bothered to get off the couch

death panel of the mods (Edward III), Thursday, 11 November 2010 04:11 (fifteen years ago)

guilty as charged of both

dayo, Thursday, 11 November 2010 04:14 (fifteen years ago)

idk it takes like 3 mins to download and 34 mins to listen to, you might find some shit you like

J0rdan S., Thursday, 11 November 2010 04:15 (fifteen years ago)

or I could spend those 34 mins listening to youtubes of al ship's top 50 r&b songs of 2000 (which I am doing now)

dayo, Thursday, 11 November 2010 04:17 (fifteen years ago)

i've done both

Ya know... if these kids were signed to Psychopathic Records, nobody would give a shit. But let's face it... their subject matter is right on par with a Juggalo.

Hector Savage, Monday, 15 November 2010 20:45 (fifteen years ago)

making good points, how does it work?

thomas smangalter (J0rdan S.), Monday, 15 November 2010 20:46 (fifteen years ago)

also Hypnotize Minds records

ya know, three 6 mafia

they won an oscar

and have a song called "body parts"....on the same album as their oscar-winning song

It works better than ADHD-addled street teamer level enthusiasm on ILX.

Hector Savage, Monday, 15 November 2010 21:05 (fifteen years ago)

i remember ethan linked to an esham record a couple years ago, a new one at the time...anyway it's really good, at least as good as oddfuture. i was pretty surprised by how waved out it was.

xp says the "if they weren't on x label and hyped by y people no one would care!" guy -- you should take all of your insightful and fresh points to the xx thread

thomas smangalter (J0rdan S.), Monday, 15 November 2010 21:08 (fifteen years ago)

anyway i think oddfuture is pretty cool i just hope ppl check out esham...the album was sacrificial lambz

though all the debate stuff about oddfuture's content is kinda weird cuz it's like...well we could have had this debate about geto boys 20 years ago, or eminem 10 years ago, or like gravediggaz, or whatever

i got two wax cylinders and a speaking trumpet (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 15 November 2010 21:11 (fifteen years ago)

though i guess there is a certain sorta disaffected cali stoner thing going on that more skatepunk to me...i mentioned "last caress" by misfits, this stuff reminds me of hardcore in a way i can't quite put my finger on...like they don't quite have the patience to even halfway pretend that they are being serious about it....

well, tbf, lots of people did have those discussions (and a few doubtless still do, somewhere). it's not like content is a triviality. but yeah, geto boys & misfits are good comparisons. combo of horror, comedy and the obvious desire to say outrageous shit for its own sake effectively neutralizes any real ability to offend.

Plus Thank You Hector Savage For Your Valuable Insights And Contribution To This Ongoing Discussion

I bet if you threw "earl" right in the middle of an ICP album you'd never know the diff

On Radical the Wolf Haley track "Leather Head"

Just wondering if anyone knows what song it samples.. It sounds like Liars or something.. although he mentions Joy Division in the song like 3 times I'm doubting that's where it was taken from.

billstevejim, Monday, 15 November 2010 22:55 (fifteen years ago)

yah its liars leather prowler

johnny crunch, Monday, 15 November 2010 23:49 (fifteen years ago)

call all destroyer, Monday, 15 November 2010 23:50 (fifteen years ago)

while obv there's a continuity w geto boys gravediggaz eminem this shit to me is really a product of their (& my) generation of hyper-vulgar schoolyard bullshitting, & if anything that's the novelty of it, and maybe also its source of innocence and moral vindication for p4k writers & whiney who are having moral crises over this stuff.

i can only imagine the same thing was going on in la, but i think we rly raised the bar wrt cussing each other out. more south park/the internet/violent video games than rap
