i've warmed up to wacky Nicki a bit as serious Nicki has emerged more and more -- her 2 big solo hits are both some of the worst rap n bullshit love songs in recent memory and when she gives interviews in her 'real speaking voice' it sounds more stilted and unnatural than any of her zany rap voices

seriously don't get "your love" hate, but "right thru me" is terrible

I'm sure the "ruh, ruh, I'm a dungeon dragon" bit isn't meant to remind me of 'Walk The Dinosaur' by Was (Not Was), but it does.

this is another one spoiled by the modern malaise of endless moaning abt heavy burdens and haters and all the other pressures of a career YOU HAVENT EVEN HAD YET FFS, but on the plus side the sentimental softrock 80s vibe of the album is so consistent (dipsettish even) that fwiw it does kinda hold together and keep you involved - to the degree you're interested in being at least. okay for a guest-rapper's debut.

think she basically needs some alter-ego dressup/extinction level event type concept bullshit to play off next album.

If Nicki had emerged eight years ago, even four or five years ago, she'd have been amazing. As it is they've given her a debut album 3/4 full of complete slush. Destroy underwritten "stirring" rnb choruses in 2010.

Drake verse is about the best thing here. Eminem is an angry dick. Disappointing.

yeah this is a total slog to get through. her career arc kinda reminds me of jadakiss, sick guest verses but meh albums.

I made it through once, I don't know if I have the willpower to go through it again.

yeah agree with it re: minaj, though i haven't heard - and will not go out of my way to hear - the ke$ha

though i'm not really disappointed as such with pink friday - i think maybe cuz my expectations dipped and fluctuated so much ahead of it, i'd definitely abandoned any hope of my dream minaj album that showcased everything i love about her happening, so i think i'm more relieved than anything that it's half-decent. what with the bonus trax there's definitely an acceptable album in here if you prune the more pointless songs, which is more than can be said for eg kanye west (and if we're talking about what an "interesting" "character" he is despite his album's flaws, how much more can that be said of nicki).
