samosa, these threads have always been titled after something that was huge the previous year, even if their prevalence continued afterward

The Reverend, Thursday, 4 November 2010 23:50 (fifteen years ago)

i think he has a pt that hashtag rap dying this year doesnt bode well for it, esp considering the grocery bag thread has been around as long as this one

holy lolson (deej), Friday, 5 November 2010 00:03 (fifteen years ago)

im feeling 'gun sounds' actually

holy lolson (deej), Friday, 5 November 2010 00:03 (fifteen years ago)

when has a couple high profile people saying "we're done with that" ever actually signaled the death of a trend in rap? my prediction is grocery bags will be overflowing throughout 2011.

tim f & lex & i are feeling the Jacka and Laroo album 'neva be the same'

i'm in this club too. mostly bumping title track, "don't be scared" & "about me" but iirc i like everything on it except the 20 bricks remix. & "don't be scared" is a big hit with my friends.

stargate produced "black and yellow"? weird. would not have guessed that.

kkkvagz (The Reverend), Monday, 8 November 2010 08:16 (fifteen years ago)

do people actually use hashtags in their... rapping? or is this just a phenomenon of rappers being on twitter

koyaani (s1ocki), Monday, 8 November 2010 14:36 (fifteen years ago)

#feelingkindoutofit #itsaprocess

koyaani (s1ocki), Monday, 8 November 2010 14:36 (fifteen years ago)

other than fabolous's "#drizzyvoice" line i don't think rapping hashtags is really a thing (the way Kanye referenced it was more of an analogy), but since pretty much every rapper is on twitter i guess it's inevitable that it's going to influence the lyrics somehow

some dude, Monday, 8 November 2010 15:25 (fifteen years ago)

can't see it being a good thing, but it can't be worse than 3 straight years of every rapper in the world thinking they were the first person to say "get out of MY SPACE"

some dude, Monday, 8 November 2010 15:26 (fifteen years ago)

but how do they like, rap them. do they just say the hashtag or do they somehow "say" the #

koyaani (s1ocki), Monday, 8 November 2010 16:08 (fifteen years ago)

it just means they stick a word at the end of the line like someone would a hashtagged word in a tweet

J. Cole said he chose "Who Dat" to be his first single "because it’s really about the beat and the raps and not much more.
that's all i want, really.

surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Tuesday, 9 November 2010 20:42 (fifteen years ago)

i like the "Who Dat" beat, rapping ain't bad. really i just give J Cole props for being the only new rapper in 2010 who came out with something even slightly resembling what a rapper's debut single should sound like.
