cant stand that complex formatting either tbh but im not gonna act like ive got something better to be repeatedly clicking on

whiney this is literally the first time i have ever seen a freelance writer claim they have no time to click on some internet pages! the point of our "job" is that we have time for that, save the mr businessman shit for, like, bankers and people who have to wear suits every day

i loved "country shit" earlier this year, liked the big krit mixtape it was off but nothing else is strictly necessary (ie "country shit" is the only one i'll actually play again)

guys the Complex ad click shit is a totally annoying and unjustifiable scam -- really it's not even a question of time, it's just irritating to ask someone to load 100 pages to read 100 short paragraphs or whatever, it's shitty web design, don't defend it

i totally agree, esp when so much of their content is horsecrap like CURREN$Y'S GREATEST FOOTWEAR MOMENTS or they're just presenting an end of decade list like every other website in the world, but when it's decent stuff like this & it's only 14 "pages" i'll put up w/ it

but yeah it is indefensible -- whiney using the time argument is obv hilariously absurd considering 14 page loads take like a total of, idk, 30 seconds

oh i'm def not defending that, it was annoying and each of the pages was horribly designed too (like...having to scroll down in a box within the page again? ughh), but really no freelance writer can ever get "grown-ass man with grown-ass job" pompous about what we do every day

it becomes really easy to get precious about the seconds of your life ticking a way whenever you spend too many of them in a row watching the little spinning wheel icon on your screen while a page loads

imo krit is a rising talent who still sounds a lil bit too much like pimp c sometimes, which is both a good and bad thing -- good in that sounding like pimp c is awesome, bad in that he doesnt have his own lyrical style all the time to justify it. there are some banal-ass nappy roots style early 00s "we are from the south"-type rap lyrics on that album. hes better when hes gets 'deep.' hes also a good beatmaker

i listened to, enjoyed, and wrote an essay based around his 1st mixtape before he had any coverage. i dont see how that = BECAME HIS BIGGEST CRITICAL CHAMPION

i also published a review of his album (that i dont think is tldr but who knows considering your hectic schedule) that you can read that gives him imo a pretty evenhanded critical look

fwiw, i like his deep stuff most but posted "county shit" cause people who are iffy about him all seem to love that song and bag on his deep shit. deej overstates his reliance on pimp c, which only really comes out when he is in "4 the sooouuuth"-banger mode, but he is otm that krit is much more of a albums artist than a singles artist. really a lot of what i like about him is his versatility, i don't think any one song can really do him justice.
